Holiday contributed 14 points (5-8 FG, 4-5 3Pt), seven rebounds, nine assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Tuesday's 124-97 win over the Bulls. Holiday had arguably his best all-around game of the season during his return from a two-game absence due to a minor ankle injury. The opposition had a lot to do with this, but what better way to ease yourself back in than against an inferior opponent? Anyone rostering Holiday will be hoping he can build off this performance, especially in terms of his assist numbers and efficiency.... See More ... See Less

Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Good to go
Holiday (ankle) is available to play Tuesday against Chicago, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Holiday will return from a two-game absence due to a right ankle sprain. He will slot back into the starting lineup alongside Derrick White (illness), who has also been cleared for action. Coach Joe Mazzulla stated that Holiday will not face a minute restriction, per Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Questionable for Tuesday
Holiday (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Bulls, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports. Holiday has missed back-to-back games due to a right ankle sprain, but he was able to go through a workout Monday and could return to game action Tuesday. However, if Holiday is sidelined again, Sam Hauser, Dalano Banton and Payton Pritchard would be candidates for increased roles.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Out again Sunday
Holiday (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Hawks. Holiday has been downgraded from questionable to out and will miss a second straight game. Kristaps Porzingis (calf) is also out, so Al Horford and Sam Hauser will presumably slide into the starting lineup. Holiday's next chance to suit up will come Tuesday versus the Bulls.... Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Iffy for Sunday
Holiday (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game versus the Hawks, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Holiday is in danger of missing his second straight game Sunday due to a right ankle sprain. Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser are candidates to receive extended minutes if Holiday remains out.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Ruled out
Holiday (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's matchup in Orlando, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports. Holiday was initially considered probable for Friday's contest, but he was downgraded to doubtful Friday morning and has officially been ruled out ahead of the matinee tipoff. In Holiday's absence, Al Horford will presumably slide into the starting lineup, while Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser garner increased bench roles.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Likely out Friday
Holiday (ankle) was downgraded to doubtful for Friday's game in Orlando, John Karalis of BostonSportsJournal.com reports. The 33-year-old was initially considered probable for Friday's contest, but his ankle sprain has apparently worsened since the release of Thursday's injury report. Derrick White and Payton Pritchard should handle point duties if Holiday is sidelined as expected.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Probable to face Orlando
Holiday is probable to face the Magic on Friday due to a right ankle sprain. Holiday is going through a rough patch of late, scoring 11 or fewer points in each of his last three appearances while shooting 30.8 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from three in that span. Derrick White could slot into the point guard role and Al Horford might slot into the lineup if Holiday can't play Friday, but the probable tag suggests he'll be available.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Held in check against Memphis
Holiday amassed seven points (2-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes during Sunday's 102-100 victory over the Grizzlies. This was a dud by Holiday's usual standards, but his lack of steals is a worrying trend. He's on pace to average 0.5 steals per game, and that would be a career-low mark by a mile, as he has never averaged fewer than 1.1 per game.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Strong all-around effort
Holiday logged 18 points (8-18 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 0-1 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal over 35 minutes during Wednesday's 117-107 victory over Philadelphia. Holiday recorded his fifth double-double of the season, but surprisingly he's recorded double-digit assists just once through his first 11 outings. The veteran playmaker continues to be a great two-way asset for the Celtics. Even though he holds a secondary role on offense -- and a minor one compared to the one he had with the Bucks in 2022-23 -- he's still a very productive fantasy alternative across all formats.... Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Secures double-double
Holiday supplied 12 points (4-16 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists and one steal over 42 minutes during Monday's 114-109 overtime loss to the Timberwolves. Holiday led all Celtics players in rebounds and assists while finishing as one of five players with a double-digit point total during Monday's overtime loss to the Wolves. Holiday has been strong on the glass while also leading the team as a floor general, tallying at least 10 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in two games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Double-doubles in win
Holiday posted 18 points (6-15 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 assists, nine rebounds and one block across 40 minutes in Saturday's 124-114 win in Brooklyn. With fellow starter Derrick White (personal) out, the Celtics went big with Holiday as the lone guard in the starting lineup. He was the perfect floor general for the C's, distributing 10 dimes while controlling the pace of the game. The Nets, who were missing center Nic Claxton (ankle), played small ball almost the entire game and tried to force a quick pace. Holiday played quickly when appropriate. But he also slowed things down to leverage Boston's size advantage with key passes inside to Kristaps Porzingis and Luke Kornet. If White doesn't play in Monday's game at Minnesota, expect another big assist night from Holiday.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Flirts with triple-double in win
Holiday posted 18 points (6-15 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 assists, nine rebounds and one block across 40 minutes in Saturday's 124-114 win in Brooklyn. With fellow starter Derrick White (personal) out, the Celtics went big with Holiday as the lone guard in the starting lineup. He was the perfect floor general for the Celtics, distributing 10 dimes while controlling the pace of the game. If White doesn't play in Monday's game at Minnesota, expect another big assist night from Holiday, who had averaged just 4.0 dimes per game over the Celtics' first four contests.... See More ... Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Scores 11 in win over Wizards
Holiday finished Monday's 126-107 victory over the Wizards with 11 points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 27 minutes. Holiday has seen a downgrade in his offensive responsibilities compared to what he had in Milwaukee, and he will now operate as Boston's fourth-best scoring threat behind Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis. There's no question Holiday can get it done on both ends of the court, but that reduction in usage rate and overall role will conspire against his fantasy upside. Of note, he has failed to reach the 15-point mark in two of his first three outings this season after averaging 19.3 points per game in Milwaukee last season.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Produces double-double in win
Holiday posted 17 points (7-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, seven assists and one block across 36 minutes in Friday's 119-111 home win over Miami. Holiday's defensive effort will always be impressive. But his offensive production will probably be up and down as he competes for shots with star teammates Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis. On Friday, Holiday shot well from the field, was a rebounding force inside and came close to a triple-double. He also looked for his shot early. Through two games, Boston has received very little from its bench. For Holiday, that has resulted in 35.5 minutes per contest. Expect huge minutes for Holiday moving forward.... See More ... Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Plays great defense in Boston debut
Holiday recorded nine points (4-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and three blocks over 35 minutes during Wednesday's 108-104 win over the Knicks. The Celtics had Holiday guarding power forward Julius Randle, a clear sign of how much Boston admires Holiday's defensive prowess. The veteran guard registered three blocks in his Boston debut. However, he often deferred to teammate Derrick White as the floor general on the offensive end. All five Boston starters, including Holiday, played 32-plus minutes, which highlighted Boston's weak bench. Expect major minutes all season long from Holiday, but big scoring nights might be limited as he plays alongside stars Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Efficient in win over Sixers
Holiday had 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists across 17 minutes in Wednesday's 112-101 preseason win over the 76ers. Holiday has yet to share expanded minutes with Jayson Tatum (rest) and Jaylen Brown (rest) in the preseason, but he's unlikely to need too much of an adjustment as one of the best floor generals in the league. He was efficient in this matchup and continues to profile as a solid two-way player for Boston once the regular season rolls around. However, his scoring contributions will likely be secondary since he'll be the fourth go-to player behind Tatum, Brown and possibly Kristaps Porzingis.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Resting Monday
Holiday won't play Monday against the Knicks due to rest purposes, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports. Holiday played 21 minutes during Sunday's preseason opener but will take a seat for the second half of Boston's back-to-back. His next chance to suit up will come Wednesday against the 76ers.... Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Headed to Boston
Holiday was traded to the Celtics by the Trail Blazers on Sunday in exchange for Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, a 2024 first-round pick and a 2029 unprotected first-round pick, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. As expected, Holiday, who was traded to Portland by Milwaukee in exchange for Damian Lillard on Wednesday, has been shipped to a contender. In Boston, Holiday finds himself essentially replacing Marcus Smart, who was flipped for Kristaps Porzingis this offseason. The Celtics have been busy this offseason, revamping the assets around Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, and their rotation appears clustered at the moment. Derrick White, Al Horford, Holiday, Brown, Tatum and Porzingis would all be everyday starters on other teams, but one will have to settle for a sixth-man role to start 2023-24. Either way, those six players figure to be on the court as much as possible, though Tatum and Brown figure to dominate the playmaking opportunities. Holiday still has a high fantasy floor due to his defensive skills, but his offensive production may take a hit with the move.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Jrue Holiday: Headed to Portland
Holiday was traded to the Trail Blazers on Wednesday as part of a three-team deal that lands Damian Lillard in Milwaukee, Deandre Ayton in Portland and Jusuf Nurkic in Phoenix, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Milwaukee will send Holiday, a 2029 unprotected first-round pick and pick swaps in 2028 and 2030 to the Trail Blazers and Grayson Allen to the Suns in exchange for Lillard. Holiday averaged 19.3 points, 7.4 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 32.6 minutes across 67 games in 2022-23. While the 33-year-old guard is still one of the better defenders in the NBA, his future in Portland seems uncertain with Anfernee Simons and Scoot Henderson on the roster. Portland will almost certainly look to re-route Holiday to another team. Given his status as one of the better two-way guards in the NBA, he should command a strong return.... See More ... See Less
