Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Heading to bench Wednesday
Doyle is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.
With Doyle taking a seat for the third time in eight games, Jake McCarthy will pick up a start in center field. Though Doyle's status as a two-time Gold Glove Award winner aids his playing-time outlook, his poor form at the plate to begin the season could continue to cost him a couple starts per week. He's batting just .188 with two extra-base hits and a career-worst 37.7 percent strikeout rate over 53 plate appearances.

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Idle Saturday
Doyle isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against San Diego.
Doyle has tallied a base hit in each of Colorado's last three games, but the Rockies will keep him on the bench Saturday in favor of Jake McCarthy, who will bat ninth while starting in center field.

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Gets into homer column in loss
Doyle went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 12-inning loss to the Padres on Thursday.
Doyle produced the first run of the game with a 408-foot solo blast to center field in the third inning. The long ball was his first of the season and just his second extra-base hit of any kind. Doyle is still slashing just .175/.250/.275 on the campaign, with his biggest fantasy contribution being a pair of steals. He batted ninth in the order for the first time this season Thursday and may need additional productive performances to work his way up from that spot.

It's already the third day off this season for Doyle, who is 4-for-31 with a 35.3 percent strikeout rate in his first 34 plate appearances this season. Mickey Moniak will patrol center field and bat second for the Rockies.

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Getting breather Monday
Doyle is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in Toronto.
Doyle went hitless during the Rockies' season-opening series in Miami, so he'll get a day to unplug as the club opens a three-game set versus the Blue Jays. Jake McCarthy will slide over to center field and Troy Johnstone will start in right field Monday.

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Swipes first bag of 2026
Doyle went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Saturday against the Marlins.
Doyle didn't have a remarkable day at the plate, and he's now 0-for-7 in his first two games of the season. However, he did manage a free pass in the second inning, and he also went on to notch his first stolen base of the campaign. Doyle has hit seventh for both of Colorado's first two contests.

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Returning Saturday
Doyle (wrist) will start in center field and bat second in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Dodgers.
Doyle hasn't appeared in a spring training game since Feb. 23 due to a sprained left wrist, but after consecutive days of hitting in the batting cage, he will make his return to a competitive setting. The 27-year-old outfielder had gone 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in two games before getting hurt.

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Targeting Friday return
Doyle (wrist) will hit in the batting cage for the second straight day Thursday and believes he can return to the lineup for Friday's Cactus League game versus the Athletics, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Doyle has participated in only two games this spring because of a left wrist sprain, with the last of those coming more than a week ago. He's made nice progress, though, and his return to the lineup appears imminent. Barring setbacks, Doyle appears poised to avoid the injured list and start the season on time.

Doyle was diagnosed with a sprained left wrist Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Awaiting imaging results on wrist
Doyle underwent imaging on his left wrist after the injury forced him to be scratched from Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Cubs, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
The Rockies had said previously that Doyle being scratched was precautionary, but him being sent for imaging suggests there's some level of concern. The results of the imaging are not in yet but might be available later Thursday. If Doyle is forced to miss time, the Rockies could shift Jake McCarthy over to center field.

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Scratched with wrist issue
Doyle was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Cubs due to left wrist inflammation, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Doyle had been slated to start in center field and bat cleanup, but Drew Avans will instead take his spot in the field and the batting order. The Rockies have described Doyle's removal from the lineup as precautionary and said that it doesn't stem from him being hit by a pitch during Monday's game against the White Sox. Doyle will likely check back into the spring lineup within the next few days.
