The Guardians didn't hand the reins over to the younger Bo Naylor until mid-June, but regardless he still racked up 2.4 fWAR as a 23-year-old rookie. An impressive athlete at the catcher position, Naylor made his presence felt both at the dish and behind it. He showed good power (11 homers, .232 ISO) and patience (13.0 BB%), finishing 24% better than league average by wRC+. Most enticing for rotisserie players: Naylor's speed. He went a perfect 5-for-5 on the basepaths, and while he's not a burner per se, he is a great runner relative to others at the position. That element of his game gives Naylor the chance to enter rarefied air in fantasy, if he gets the playing time. Cleveland brought Austin Hedges back to help with the workload, but Naylor's plus defense and hitting put him as the clear No. 1 on the depth chart entering 2024. He could surpass 400 plate appearances in a perfect world.

  • Guardians' Bo Naylor: Records first steal

Naylor went 1-for-5 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 10-7 extra-innings win over the Red Sox. This was Naylor's first steal of the year, which came on his second attempt. The catcher has struggled to get things going at the plate, hitting just .186 with a .653 OPS, two home runs, five RBI and four runs scored over 52 plate appearances. He plays against most right-handed pitchers, but Austin Hedges and David Fry continues to draw in for Naylor behind the dish regularly versus southpaws.

  • Guardians' Bo Naylor: Homers, drives in winning run

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a walk in Wednesday's come-from-behind win over the White Sox. Naylor's two-run shot off Erick Fedde in the bottom of the fourth brought the Guardians back to within two runs of Chicago and came just three at-bats after his older brother Josh's solo home run -- on National Siblings Day. The young catcher then played the role of hero in extra innings, driving home Tyler Freeman with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th as Cleveland improved to 9-3 on the season. Naylor is still batting just .194 following the two-hit performance, though he's now homered in two of his last six games. It also marked his third multi-hit game this month.

Naylor is not in the lineup for Monday's contest against the White Sox. • Guardians' Bo Naylor: Rejoins spring lineup

Naylor (back) will start at catcher and bat cleanup Wednesday in the Guardians' Cactus League game against the Brewers. He'll crack the Cactus League lineup for just the second time this spring and the first time since Feb. 24 after back spasms kept him out of commission for about a week and a half. Provided he experiences no further setbacks with his back during camp, Naylor should be ready to handle the lion's share of the starts behind the dish by the time the regular season gets underway.

Naylor went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, one RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Royals. Naylor has five steals this season, four of which have come in his last eight games. In that span, he's gone 9-for-28 (.321) with a 6:5 BB:K. The improved plate discipline and stronger hitting has given Cleveland fans and fantasy managers alike a glimpse of Naylor's future potential. He's at a modest .233/.329/.433 slash line with eight home runs, 25 RBI and 25 runs scored over 60 contests this season, but he could be a fantasy force in the coming years if he can continue to grow his hitting in the majors.
