Victor Vodnik was acquired from Atlanta in late July for Pierce Johnson and got his first taste of the majors. Vodnik had a 3.35 ERA and 69:31 K:BB in 53.2 innings between Double-A and Triple-A. He has a plus fastball that averaged 97 mph in the majors. He has shown ground ball tendencies, but command issues and less promising secondary offerings could limit his upside. He'll contend for a setup role this spring.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Secures third save

Vodnik picked up the save over the Giants on Saturday, pitching a perfect ninth inning while striking out one. Vodnik was tasked with protecting a one-run lead in the top of the ninth, and the right-hander did not disappoint, going 1-2-3 through the middle of San Francisco's lineup to secure his third save of the campaign. Vodnik has now converted each of his three save opportunities this month after blowing two save chances in the latter part of June. He's also posted at least one strikeout in 12 straight appearances.

  • Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Logs five-out save

Vodnik picked up the save Sunday against the Mets, allowing two hits and a walk over 1.2 scoreless innings. He struck out two. Vodnik took over for Jalen Beeks midway through the eighth frame with one out and runners on second and third. Vodnik walked Francisco Lindor to load the bases and yielded an RBI fielder's choice to Brandon Nimmo before retiring Francisco Alvarez to close out the frame. Holding an 8-5 lead, Vodnik allowed a pair of singles but logged back-to-back strikeouts to close out his second save of 2024. Vodnik has cashed in on both of his save opportunities in July, and with the Rockies' current closing situation up in the air, he could see occasional save chances in the second half of 2024.

The right-handed reliever was able to escape the jam, however, and secure his first save of the campaign. Vodnik had blown each of his previous two save attempts this season coming in but has now recorded a win and a save in his last two appearances. He's also recorded at least one strikeout in seven consecutive outings.

Vodnik gave up two hits and no walks over 1.1 scoreless innings in relief en route to collecting his third hold of the season in Monday's 8-6 win over the Guardians. • Braves' Victor Vodnik: Heads back to minors camp

Vodnik was reassigned to minor-league camp Friday by Atlanta. Vodnik's removal brings the Atlanta camp roster down to 52 total players. The 23-year-old is one of the best relief prospects in the team's system, and he posted a 2.34 ERA over 31 appearances with Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett in 2022. There's a very good chance he makes his big-league debut in 2023.
