White Sox's Davis Martin: Tough-luck loss in Toronto
Martin (9-5) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out five across 5.2 innings.
Martin and Shane Bieber were locked in a pitcher's duel Saturday at Rogers Centre. Martin did everything he could, but the lone run he gave up -- a George Springer RBI single in the fourth frame -- turned out to be the difference in what ended as a 1-0 win for the Blue Jays. Martin was one out shy from logging his 11th quality start of the season, and he ended his day at 85 pitches (55 strikes) with 10 whiffs and five groundouts. He'll take a 3.31 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 106 innings into his next start, which is lined up for next weekend at home against the Astros.

White Sox's Davis Martin: Short outing in fourth loss
Martin (9-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out two.
Martin surrendered just one extra-base hit on the evening, but the Boston bats made the most out of their knocks Wednesday. The 29-year-old right-hander was arguably snubbed from being named a first-time All-Star in 2026, but he does have a 6.34 ERA and 1.90 WHIP to go with a concerning 21:17 K:BB across his last 32.2 innings since the beginning of June (seven starts). Despite his recent struggles, Martin enters the All-Star break with what is still a respectable 3.41 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 92:31 K:BB over 100.1 frames.

Martin couldn't find the plate during a laborious outing at sweltering Progressive Field on Thursday, landing only half of his pitches for strikes and walking a season-high five. Additionally, the 74 pitches represent a season-low figure for the 29-year-old right-hander, who also matched his shortest start of the campaign in terms of innings. Martin still holds a strong 3.08 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 90:29 K:BB over 96.1 innings.

White Sox's Davis Martin: Holds Royals scoreless Saturday
Martin did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Royals, allowing four hits and one walk with three strikeouts over 5.1 scoreless innings.
Martin kept the Royals off the board and fell two outs shy of a quality start, throwing 54 of 87 pitches for strikes with only seven whiffs. Martin looked sharp out of the gate, striking out three of the first four batters he faced, before things drastically unraveled. The right-hander needed 88 pitches to record just 10 outs and was tagged for a season-high three home runs in his worst outing of the campaign. Across the third and fourth innings alone, Martin allowed 10 baserunners as New York's offense repeatedly capitalized on traffic. After carrying a 2.00 ERA through his first 11 starts, Martin has now allowed six or more earned runs in two of his last three outings, causing his ERA to jump to 3.31. The 29-year-old is scheduled to make his next start on the road against Detroit.

Martin continued his breakout campaign with another dominant performance, recording his third outing of at least six innings without allowing a run this season. The right-hander had to navigate several early threats, escaping a bases-loaded jam in the second inning before stranding runners on the corners in the third. Martin has now allowed one run or fewer in eight of his last 10 starts and joins Aaron Ashby and Gavin Williams atop the MLB wins leaderboard with nine. After Martin dazzled against the Twins last week, yielding just one run on two hits with five strikeouts over six innings, Minnesota got the better of the right-hander Tuesday. The 10 hits and six runs allowed were both season highs for Martin, as he generated just eight whiffs on 92 pitches en route to a season-low two strikeouts. With the rough outing, Martin's ERA jumped to 2.61 with a 73:17 K:BB across 72.1 innings this season. He'll try to get back on track next week at home against Atlanta.

Martin (8-1) earned the win over Minnesota on Thursday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings.
Martin breezed through four scoreless frames before yielding a run on a walk and a double in the fifth. That was the only tally the Twins were able to put on the board against the right-hander, who picked up his third victory in as many starts. Martin induced 14 whiffs and struck out five batters en route to his fourth quality start across his past five outings. He's come into his own this season and has emerged as an ace for a promising White Sox squad, as he's tied for second in the majors with eight wins while posting a 2.00 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 71:14 K:BB through 67.2 innings. Martin is lined up to make his next start on the road in a rematch with Minnesota.

White Sox's Davis Martin: Strikes out seven in win
Martin (7-1) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5.2 innings to earn the win over the Giants on Friday.
A nine-run fourth inning by the White Sox bought plenty of breathing room for Martin. He used up some of it over the next two frames, but the Giants never made a real threat to erase the deficit. The four runs allowed were a season high, and this was the first time Martin's given up multiple runs since April 10 versus the Royals. He also fell short of a quality start for just the third time in 10 outings. He has a 2.04 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 66:12 K:BB through 61.2 innings in what's been an impressive breakout campaign, albeit with few truly challenging matchups on his game log. Martin's next start is projected to be at home versus the Twins.
