  • Ruben Cardenas: Leaves Phillies organization for KBO

    The Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization announced Wednesday that Cardenas signed a one-year, $477,000 contract with the club, Jee-ho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.

    Cardenas had been a member of the Phillies organization at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but he'll presumably get cut loose in the coming days now that he's reached an agreement with a KBO club. Previously acquired from the Rays in June, the 26-year-old outfielder slashed .277/.345/.550 with 20 home runs and 10 stolen bases in 322 plate appearances between Lehigh Valley and Triple-A Durham. Cardenas had yet to make his MLB debut.

  • Phillies' Ruben Cardenas: Shipped to Philly

    The Rays traded Cardenas to the Phillies on Thursday in exchange for cash, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.

    Cardenas has spent all season at Triple-A Durham, where he slashed .281/.346/.530 with 11 home runs and 28 RBI across 205 plate appearances. The 26-year-old outfielder will likely report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley upon joining the Phillies, and he could make his MLB debut later in the year if he continues to be productive at the plate.

  • Rays' Ruben Cardenas: Reassigned to minors camp

    Cardenas was reassigned Wednesday to the minor-league side of Rays camp.

    Cardenas had a couple of homers this spring in Grapefruit League play but was sporting a .182 batting average across 27 plate appearances. The 25-year-old outfielder is presumably headed for Triple-A Durham to open the 2023 regular season.
