Marlins' Jesus Luzardo: Rebounds with quality start
Luzardo didn't factor in the decision in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs. He struck out six and gave up two runs on three hits and three walks across six innings.
The left-hander surrendered a two-run triple to Patrick Wisdom during the third inning but otherwise kept Chicago off the board. The quality start is a welcome sight for Luzardo, who allowed 12 runs over his previous two outings and gave up at least one homer in each of his first four starts. Luzardo currently lines up to pitch next weekend versus the Nationals in Miami.

Marlins' Jesus Luzardo: Ineffective versus Atlanta
Luzardo pitched five innings, surrendering five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four batters in Sunday's 9-7 loss to Atlanta. He did not factor into the decision.
Luzardo ran into trouble early Sunday, first allowing a run on sacrifice fly by Adam Duvall in the top of the second inning before giving up two runs in each of the third and fourth frames. The left-hander has now surrendered 12 runs over 9.2 innings in his last two starts, watching his ERA grow from 4.35 to 7.65 over 20 innings in four outings in 2024. Luzardo will look to get back on track in his next projected start Friday on the road versus the Cubs.

Marlins' Jesus Luzardo: Allows 13 baserunners, seven runs
Luzardo took the loss Monday against the Yankees, allowing seven runs on eight hits and five walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.
Luzardo's outing started out well enough as he held the Yankees scoreless through three innings, but he ran into trouble in the fourth, allowing three-run homers to both Anthony Volpe and Juan Soto that proved to be more than enough for the red-hot Bronx Bombers. Luzardo went back out for the fifth and allowed one more run prior to being removed with two outs in the inning. In total, Luzardo allowed 13 runners to reach base while recording just 14 outs. Things likely won't be any easier in his next outing as he looks to right the ship in what is scheduled to be a home matchup over the weekend against Atlanta.

Marlins' Jesus Luzardo: No run support in loss
Luzardo (0-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Angels after allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings.
The Marlins dropped their sixth straight game to open the 2024 season, though Luzardo pitched well enough. A fourth-inning solo home run by Aaron Hicks was the lone blemish against him until he wound up being charged with two more runs in the sixth. Luzardo's only given up six hits while maintaining a solid 13:4 K:BB in 10.1 innings over two starts. He projects to face the Yankees on the road in his next start as he searches for his first win this year.
