Brewers' Carlos F. Rodriguez: Optioned to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Rodriguez was thrust into the Brewers' big-league rotation following a plethora of injuries to their starting pitchers, but he'll now return to the minors after posting a 7.30 ERA and 1.78 WHIP across 12.1 innings to begin his MLB career. It's unclear who will fill the open spot in Milwaukee's rotation following Rodriguez's departure, but it's possible the Brewers turn to the newly signed Dallas Keuchel until they get a few pitchers back from the injured list. For now, Joel Kuhnel will come up from Triple-A Nashville to add bullpen depth.

Rodriguez (0-2) took the loss against the Angels on Monday, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 4.2 innings.
Rodriguez's second big-league outing went about as poorly as his first -- he gave up two fewer hits but twice as many earned runs while failing to complete five frames. The right-hander did make it through two innings unscathed, but he was stung by a three-run third before serving up a two-run homer in the fourth. Rodriguez has given up six earned runs across 8.1 frames over his two starts, and he could be pushed back to the minors if Jakob Junis (shoulder) returns to the big club this week, as expected.

Rodriguez (0-1) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four over 3.2 innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Blue Jays.
Rodriguez threw 43 of 71 pitches for strikes in his major-league debut, which saw the Brewers fail to give him any run support. The 22-year-old right-hander was able to show off a little bit of his strikeout upside and managed to limit walks well, but the Blue Jays were opportunistic with their swings in the low-scoring game. With Robert Gasser (elbow) facing a season-ending injury, it's possible Rodriguez remains in the rotation going forward, though that may depend on how the Brewers want to deploy Jakob Junis (shoulder) once he's cleared to return from the 60-day injured list.

Brewers' Carlos F. Rodriguez: Expected to debut Tuesday

The Brewers are expected to select Rodriguez's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday and have him start against the Blue Jays in Milwaukee, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Desperate for starters with Joe Ross (back), Robert Gasser (elbow), Jakob Junis (shoulder) and DL Hall (knee) all on the injured list, the Brewers will call upon the 22-year-old Rodriguez to fill the opening in their rotation created by Aaron Ashby's demotion to Triple-A. Rodriguez has spent all season with Nashville and got off to a rough start, but he has turned in a 2.83 ERA and 0.89 WHIP through 35 innings since the beginning of May. The right-hander will be making his MLB debut against a Blue Jays offense that currently ranks 20th in the majors with a .680 OPS.
