Orioles' Shintaro Fujinami: Awarded win over Red Sox
Fujinami (7-8) struck out one without putting a runner on base over 1.2 innings to earn the win Saturday over the Red Sox.
Fujinami inherited a pair of runners in the fifth inning and saw them pull off a double steal to both get into scoring position, but he nullified the threat. He then pitched a tidy sixth inning and was ultimately awarded the win in a 13-12 Baltimore victory. With 4.2 scoreless innings and six strikeouts over four outings in September, it appears the Orioles are starting to get the best out of Fujinami. He still has a 7.15 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 79:39 K:BB through 73 innings this year, but he's been much more effective as a reliever with Baltimore than he was in any role with Oakland to begin the campaign.

Orioles' Shintaro Fujinami: Picks up second save
Fujinami struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Angels.
Fujinami has maintained scoreless outings in 13 of his 20 appearances with the Orioles, though they haven't all been as crisp as Tuesday's nine-pitch inning. The save was his second of the year, and he's added a hold in his time with Baltimore to get to four holds on the year. The right-hander is at a 7.42 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 77:39 K:BB through 70.1 innings overall, but he's been noticeably better with the Orioles, pitching to a 4.71 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 21 innings since he was dealt from the Athletics.

Orioles' Shintaro Fujinami: Earns win Friday
Fujinami (6-8) allowed a hit and struck out two over two scoreless innings to earn the win Friday over the Rockies.
Fujinami threw 16 of 23 pitches for strikes and became the pitcher of record when Baltimore went ahead in the bottom of the eighth inning. The right-hander has strung together three scoreless outings spanning four innings. He's been inconsistent since joining the Orioles, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) across 17 innings, though his 21:9 K:BB in that span shows his potential for success. Overall, the right-hander has a 7.60 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 72:39 K:BB over 66.1 innings between the Orioles and the Athletics this year, and he's added a save and four holds.

Orioles' Shintaro Fujinami: Collects first save
Fujinami struck out one without putting a runner on base in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Mariners.
Fujinami uncorked a wild pitch in the outing, but it was his lone mistake. The right-hander has showed some talent since he was traded from Oakland, but he's also allowed seven runs (six earned) with a 12:8 K:BB over 10.1 innings across his 10 appearances in that span. Overall, he's posted a 7.99 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 63:38 K:BB with a save, four holds and a 5-8 record over 59.2 innings across 44 outings (seven starts) this year. Until he can display better command, Fujinami is likely to see only sporadic late-inning assignments in a bullpen as strong as Baltimore's.

Orioles' Shintaro Fujinami: Activated by Baltimore
Fujinami was activated by the Orioles on Friday.
Fujinami will officially join Baltimore's bullpen after being acquired via trade from the Athletics on Wednesday. The right-hander has produced an impressive 1.64 ERA and 0.64 WHIP with 12 strikeouts over 11 innings in his last nine appearances dating back to June 28.

Athletics' Shintaro Fujinami: Expected to be dealt
Fujinami is expected to be traded, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Fujinami's destination is not yet known. The 29-year-old was a disaster in the Athletics' rotation earlier this season but has found a home in the bullpen, particularly of late with a 1.64 ERA and 12:0 K:BB over his last 11 innings. Fujinami seems likely to fill a middle-relief role wherever he lands.

Orioles' Shintaro Fujinami: Dealt to Baltimore
The Athletics traded Fujinami to the Orioles on Wednesday in exchange for Easton Lucas, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Fujinami's stat line remains significantly inflated from his disastrous run as a starter this season. However, he boasts a 2.77 ERA and 0.85 WHIP alongside a 13:0 K:BB across 13 innings since June 20. Fujinami will most likely serve in middle relief as part of the Orioles bullpen.

Athletics' Shintaro Fujinami: Takes eighth loss Friday
Fujinami (5-8) took the loss Friday against the Twins, allowing two earned runs on two hits over 1.2 innings. He struck out three.
Fujinami fired 20 of his 27 pitches for strikes, but the two-run home run he surrendered to Joey Gallo in the ninth inning snapped a 3-3 tie and ultimately saddled the right-hander with the loss. Fujinami saw a six-appearance scoreless streak snapped in the process, but despite the stumble, he's been much more of a fantasy asset since moving to the bullpen in late April following a mostly disastrous stay in the rotation over the first month of the campaign.

Athletics' Shintaro Fujinami: Stays hot with fifth win
Fujinami (5-7) got the extra-inning win over the Tigers on Tuesday, striking out the side in a perfect ninth frame.
Fujinami threw arguably his sharpest inning of the season, firing nine of his 12 pitches for strikes while recording swinging punchouts of Jake Rogers, Zach McKinstry and Miguel Cabrera. The right-hander now has four consecutive scoreless appearances -- including three straight hitless efforts -- and hasn't walked a batter across the seven innings spanning his last six outings, his longest stretch by far without issuing a free pass. With a recent body of work that includes a 3-1 record, 2.19 ERA and 10.2 K/9 across his last 11 appearances, Fujinami appears to be increasingly earning the trust of manager Mark Kotsay in higher-leverage scenarios.

Athletics' Shintaro Fujinami: Secures fourth win
Fujinami (4-7) got the extra-inning win over the White Sox on Saturday, firing a scoreless 10th frame during which he recorded two strikeouts and hit a batter.
His plunking of Zach Remillard with two outs aside, it was a momentous 13-pitch outing for Fujinami overall. Not only did he secure his fourth win, he also recorded swinging strikeouts of Yasmani Grandal and Andrew Benintendi, posted a third consecutive scoreless appearance and was trusted in a high-leverage scenario with positive results. The big right-hander continues to find life as a reliever much more welcoming than as a member of the rotation, and he now carries a 2-1 record, 2.38 ERA and one hold over the 11.1 innings covering his last 10 appearances.

Athletics' Shintaro Fujinami: Bounces back with scoreless effort
Fujinami fired two scoreless relief innings in a loss to the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing three hits while recording two strikeouts.
Although he got only 18 of his 30 pitches into the strike zone, Fujinami's scoreless effort represented a welcome resurgence from a rough showing Saturday when he'd allowed two earned runs on four hits over just two-thirds of an inning while taking his seventh loss. The Nippon Professional Baseball import has been appreciably steadier as a reliever than he was as a member of the rotation, with Fujinami now owning a 2-2 record and a serviceable 4.26 ERA in the 12.2 innings covering his last 12 appearances.
