  Beck is being pushed for a roster spot by Nick Martini, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Beck was a projected regular between right field and DH entering spring training. However, he's hitting just .212 with 13 strikeouts across 33 at-bats in Cactus League action. That could be enough to convince the team that Beck needs more seasoning in the minors, though Harding still projects that the young outfielder will make the team with a starting role to begin the regular season.

Beck reached on a fielder's choice in each of his first two trips to the plate, coming around to score a run on both occasions. He then added an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to give Colorado a 6-5 lead before stealing third and eventually coming home for a third time on a Drew Romo groundout. It was the outfielder's second straight game with a stolen base, while his three runs scored in the contest marked a season high. Beck has now hit safely in six of his last seven starts, batting .260 (6-for-23) with a double, an RBI and six runs scored over that stretch.

More impressively, he got the start and performed well against a right-handed starter (Matt Waldron) in Friday's contest. Beck is at a .222/.237/.333 slash line with two home runs, 10 RBI, five runs scored and two stolen bases over 93 plate appearances in the majors this year. He'll still have to earn an everyday role, but the top prospect looks poised to push Sam Hilliard for playing time in left field.
