Detmers (3-8) took the loss against the Orioles on Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in four innings.
Detmers' demise came in the fourth inning after Tyler O'Neill and Coby Mayo hit successive homers to give Baltimore a lead they never looked back on. After staying with the Angels through the trade deadline, Detmers pitched his third start this season of four or less innings. The lefty threw only 50 of his 81 pitches for strikes. The 27-year-old is next scheduled to pitch against Texas next week.

Detmers will start Wednesday's game against the Orioles at Camden Yards, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Detmers appeared to be a prime candidate to get traded Monday, and though one report indicated that a deal was in place for him to join the Cubs, he ultimately stayed in Anaheim once the deadline passed. The 27-year-old lefty will return to the bump for the Angels on seven days' rest and should continue to headline the rotation for the rest of the season. Since surrendering a season-high eight runs in a loss to the Athletics on May 19, Detmers has gone 2-2 with a 3.21 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 84:19 K:BB over 70 innings in his subsequent 12 starts.

A previous report indicating that a deal sending Detmers to the Cubs was done, but it turned out to be inaccurate. Detmers remains a prime trade candidate, but it's unclear whether a deal to the Cubs or any other team has momentum. The left-hander has posted a 4.03 ERA and 145:38 K:BB across 125 innings covering 22 outings for the Angels this season.

The Cubs acquired Detmers from the Angels on Monday, Michael Cerami of Bleacher Report reports.
The Cubs previously traded for Kevin Gausman and have further bolstered their rotation with the addition of Detmers, who has logged a 4.03 ERA and 145:38 K:BB across 125 innings covering 22 outings for the Angels this season. The 27-year-old left-hander will be under team control through the end of the 2028 campaign.

Detmers did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Astros, allowing two runs on two solo home runs and one walk while striking out nine over five innings.
Detmers gave up a solo homer to Yordan Alvarez just two batters into the game during a first inning in which he struck out the side. Christian Walker accounted for the Astros' other run against him with a solo shot in the fourth before Detmers closed his outing by striking out the side again in the fifth. The left-hander has been outstanding in the second half of the season, allowing just three runs across 16.1 innings while piling up 22 strikeouts in three starts. He now owns a 4.03 ERA and 1.10 WHIP, and his 145 strikeouts rank fourth in the American League. His next start is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday against the Orioles.

Detmers (3-7) took the loss against the Cardinals on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
Detmers was locked in a pitcher's duel with Hunter Dobbins before surrendering a solo homer to JJ Wetherholt in the sixth inning, which proved to be the game's only run. The southpaw scuffled a bit entering the All-Star break but has opened the second half with two strong outings, allowing just one earned run with 13 strikeouts over 11.1 innings. He'll take a 4.05 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 136:37 K:BB across 120 innings this season into a home matchup with the Astros next week.
Detmers didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Tigers, allowing four hits and striking out seven without a walk over six scoreless innings.
This was undoubtedly a step in the right direction for Detmers, who had given up five earned runs in each of his final two starts before the All-Star break. Even with a few stumbles, Detmers has been a steady presence in the Angels' rotation this season, posting a 3.47 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across 46.2 innings and eight starts since the beginning of June. He's lined up to make his next start at home against the Cardinals.

Detmers allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out six batters over four innings in a no-decision against Texas on Thursday.
Detmers gave up a solo homer to Brandon Nimmo in the first inning, setting the tone for what would be a rough night for the left-hander. He was taken deep again in both of the third and fourth innings and was lifted after throwing 82 pitches across four frames. Detmers did manage six punchouts to at least give his fantasy managers something to find solace in, but the rough outing continued what has been a very up-and-down campaign. The 26-year-old began June looking brilliant in allowing just one run while posting an 18:2 K:BB over 20 innings across three starts, but since then he's given up exactly five runs in three of his subsequent four starts to push his season ERA up to a mediocre 4.39.
Detmers (3-6) was charged with the loss Friday against the Red Sox after allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks across five innings, striking out five.
Detmers has struck out at least five in back-to-back games for the first time since doing so in six consecutive starts between May 13 and June 10, but there isn't much more to highlight from this outing. He's now given up at least five runs in two of his last three starts, and the 26-year-old southpaw has been trending in the wrong direction of late. Still, Detmers owns a 3.19 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in six starts since the beginning of June, and he'll aim to bounce back when he takes the ball in his next start against the Rangers on the road.
Detmers allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out eight over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Saturday.
Detmers had struggled in his first two starts of the year versus the A's, but he put in a good effort this time. He threw 68 of 99 pitches for strikes while coming up just one out short of a quality start. Detmers allowed just eight runs over 31.2 innings across five starts in June, with the A's accounting for seven of those runs. The southpaw is now at a 3.88 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 112:31 K:BB through 99.2 innings over 17 starts this season. His next start is projected to be a favorable matchup at home versus the Red Sox.
