Nationals' Jordan Weems: Notches fifth win
Weems (5-0) was credited with the win Friday, giving up one run on two hits and two walks over one inning of relief in the Nationals' 10-6 victory over Atlanta. He struck out one.
The 30-year-old right-hander got tagged for a run for the third time in his last four appearances as he experiences a late-season fade, but Weems was still able to vulture one more win. He's stumbled to a 5.06 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 10:10 K:BB through 10.2 innings in September, and he's far from guaranteed a key role in the Nationals' 2024 bullpen despite his 96 mph fastball and sharp slider.... Nationals' Jordan Weems: Dominant relief outing
Weems struck out four batters in 1.1 scoreless innings during Monday's loss to the Reds.
Entering the game in the seventh inning with the Nationals down 3-2, Weems did hit TJ Friedl with a pitch but was otherwise perfect as he generated seven swinging strikes on only 29 pitches. The 30-year-old right-hander has emerged as a potential high-leverage weapon, posting a 0.73 ERA, 0.49 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB over his last 12.1 innings, and Weems could find himself in the closing mix for the Nationals in the second half if the team ships out arbitration-eligible relievers like Kyle Finnegan and Hunter Harvey.... Nationals' Jordan Weems: Collects first career win
Weems (1-0) walked two and struck out three over two scoreless, no-hit innings of relief Tuesday to pick up the win in an extra-innings victory over the Mariners.
The one-time catcher converted to pitching in 2016 and made his big-league in the Oakland bullpen in 2020, but it wasn't until Tuesday he was able to notch his first big-league win. Weems appears to have figured things out in the Washington system, and since his promotion in early June he has a 2.25 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB through 12 innings. The 30-year-old right-hander isn't likely to claim a high-leverage role, however, even if the Nats ship out relievers like Kyle Finnegan before the trade deadline.... See More ... See Less

Washington recalled Weems from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.
Weems will jump back into the Nationals' bullpen ahead of Tuesday night's series opener against the Diamondbacks. He worked 2.1 scoreless innings over two appearances in a prior major-league stint and had allowed just one hit across his last 6.1 frames at Triple-A.... See More ... See Less

Weems will serve as the 27th man for the Nationals in Saturday's doubleheader against the Pirates, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Nationals' Jordan Weems: Heads back to Triple-A
The Nationals returned Weems to Triple-A Rochester following Saturday's doubleheader with the Pirates.
Weems appeared in both games of the twin bill, working 2.1 innings out of the bullpen in total and striking out three while allowing no runs on one hit and two walks. He'll now head back to Rochester but should be near the top of the list for a promotion the next time the Nationals are in need of an extra bullpen arm.... See More ... See Less

The Nationals optioned Weems to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Weems held a 5.22 ERA but a 41:12 K:BB over 39.2 innings for the Nats last season. He should get another shot in the big-league bullpen at some point in 2023.... See More ... See Less
Nationals' Jordan Weems: Recalled from Triple-A
Weems was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Friday.
Weems was sent down to the minors in early August after recording a 6.57 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over 24.2 innings. Nationals' Jordan Weems: Heads to minors
The Nationals optioned Weems to Triple-A Rochester on Sunday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
Since Weems was unlikely to be available for the next two days after covering 2.1 innings out of the bullpen while giving up three earned runs on four hits in Saturday's 11-5 loss to the Phillies, the Nationals opted to move him off the 26-man active roster. Washington recalled Mason Thompson from Triple-A to fill Weems' spot on the active roster and in the bullpen.... See More ... See Less

Nationals' Jordan Weems: Goes to minors
The Nationals reassigned Weems to minor-league camp Monday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Though he made a strong case for a spot in Washington's Opening Day bullpen by striking out six over five scoreless frames during his four Grapefruit League appearances, Weems will ultimately begin the season with Triple-A Rochester. Weems previously made seven unsuccessful appearances in the majors between Oakland and Arizona last season, giving up 10 earned runs and issuing six walks in 5.2 frames.... See More ... See Less
Nationals' Jordan Weems: Signs with Nationals
Weems signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Sunday, Maria Torres of The Athletic reports.
Weems made seven relief appearances for the Athletics and Diamondbacks during the 2021 campaign but struggled, as he allowed 10 runs in 5.2 innings. The right-hander will be invited to major-league camp once it gets underway. Weems could make some big-league appearances while serving as organizational depth in 2022, but he'll presumably serve in a low-leverage role if he's called up.... See More ... See Less

Diamondbacks' Jordan Weems: Demoted to minors
The Diamondbacks optioned Weems to Triple-A Reno on Sunday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.
Weems was one of several Arizona pitchers battered in Saturday's 22-1 loss to the Dodgers, as he retired just one batter while allowing five runs on three hits and two walks. The reliever gave up two runs in an inning over his other appearance with Arizona following his July 6 call-up, so he didn't make a compelling case to stick around on the 26-man active roster....
