  • Astros' Tayler Scott: Back with Astros

Scott signed a minor-league contract with the Astros on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. Scott elected free agency Tuesday after being DFA'd by Arizona, and he'll now rejoin the organization he began the season with. The 33-year-old has noticeably regressed from last year, turning in a 6.66 ERA and 1.75 WHIP through 25.2 innings, and he'll aim to redeem himself at Triple-A Sugar Land in order to get another shot with the big club.

  • Diamondbacks' Tayler Scott: Sent outright to Triple-A

The Diamondbacks outrighted Scott to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. Scott has the ability to decline the outright assignment and elect free agency, but it's not clear what his plans are. The reliever has made 23 appearances between the Astros and Diamondbacks in 2025, posting a 6.66 ERA and 23:16 K:BB across 25.2 frames.

  • Diamondbacks' Tayler Scott: Loses roster spot

Arizona designated Scott for assignment Saturday. Scott had his contract selected from Triple-A Reno on June 10 and allowed nine runs on 13 hits with a 7:4 K:BB over nine innings spanning six appearances while with Arizona. Prior to that, he posted a 5.40 ERA across 16.2 frames as a member of the Astros. Scott's removal from the 40-man roster Saturday made room for the Diamondbacks to select the contract of fellow reliever John Curtiss from Reno.

  • Diamondbacks' Tayler Scott: Added to big-league bullpen

The Diamondbacks selected Scott's contract from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. Scott will come up alongside Kevin Ginkel and Bryce Jarvis to replace Jeff Brigham, Justin Martinez (elbow) and Christian Montes De Oca (elbow) in Arizona's bullpen. Scott, 33, turned in a 5.40 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 16.2 innings during his time with the Astros this year, though he's fired 3.1 shutout innings in Triple-A since joining the D-backs organization.

  • Diamondbacks' Tayler Scott: Links up with Arizona

Scott signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Scott reported to Triple-A Reno and made his organizational debut Sunday, striking out a batter in a perfect inning of relief. Before catching on with Arizona, Scott had opened the season in Houston's bullpen. He posted a 5.40 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 16:12 K:BB in 16.2 innings before the Astros removed him from their 40-man roster in mid-May.

  • Tayler Scott: Becomes free agent

Scott elected free agency Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Scott cleared waivers after the Astros designated him for assignment last week, but he'll choose to explore his options elsewhere rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Sugar Land. Before he was removed from the Astros' 40-man roster, Scott made 17 appearances out of the big-league bullpen and turned in a 5.40 ERA and 1.68 WHIP across 16.2 innings.

  • Astros' Tayler Scott: Booted from 40-man roster

The Astros designated Scott for assignment Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Scott has struggled in 2025 to replicate his success from last season, posting a 5.40 ERA and 16:12 K:BB over 16.2 frames. He had a 2.23 ERA and 71:35 K:BB across 68.2 innings in 2024, so Scott could draw interest via trade or waivers.

  • Astros' Tayler Scott: Plays catch Tuesday

Scott (back) played catch in the outfield at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Scott just landed on the 15-day injured list over the weekend with a thoracic spine strain, so it's a good sign that he's already throwing again. He will not be eligible to return before the end of the regular season, but the Astros are hoping to have him available as an option at some point during the playoffs.

  • Astros' Tayler Scott: Shelved with spine injury

The Astros placed Scott on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to a thoracic spine strain. Scott has been uncharacteristically bad during September, logging a 6.35 ERA and 4:5 K:BB across 5.2 innings. However, the poor performance can be attributed at least in some part to the spine injury. Scott won't be eligible to return during the regular season, but he could return for the playoffs. Seth Martinez was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move.

  • Astros' Tayler Scott: Starting Monday in bullpen game

Scott will serve as the Astros' opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Pirates, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Scott will be making his first start in the majors since the 2023, when he opened one game apiece as a member of the Red Sox and Athletics. He'll likely pitch only one or two innings in what will be a bullpen game for the Astros after the team scratched scheduled starter Jake Bloss and dealt him to the Blue Jays shortly before first pitch. Across 45 outings this season, Scott has a 1.45 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 50:23 K:BB across 49.2 innings.

  • Astros' Tayler Scott: Joins big-league roster

The Astros selected Scott's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Scott had a strong spring to win a spot in the Astros' Opening Day bullpen. He figures to be used in low-leverage spots by manager Joe Espada.

  • Astros' Tayler Scott: Inks MiLB pact with Houston

Scott signed a minor-league contract with the Astros on Dec. 12. Scott owns a rough 9.00 ERA in 46 major-league innings, but his minor-league numbers have always been good. The 31-year-old right-hander could get a look in the Houston bullpen at some point in 2024.

  • Athletics' Tayler Scott: Dropped from 40-man roster

The Athletics outrighted Scott to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday. Scott was moved off the 40-man roster after he compiled a 5.60 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 17:10 K:BB in 17.2 innings over 18 appearances in the big leagues across stops with the Red Sox, Dodgers and Athletics. If Scott doesn't choose to pursue his options in free agency, he'll likely join the Athletics for spring training as a non-roster invitee with the hope of winning a spot in the Opening Day bullpen.

  • Athletics' Tayler Scott: Sent to minors

The Athletics optioned Scott to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday. Scott was sent to the minors to make room on the 26-man active roster for Hogan Harris, who was recalled from Las Vegas and is expected to serve as a bulk reliever for Tuesday's game against the Royals. After getting called up from Las Vegas a week ago, Scott made two appearances out of the Oakland bullpen, tossing 2.2 scoreless frames.

  • Athletics' Tayler Scott: Recalled Tuesday

Scott was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. The right-hander was sent to Triple-A on Aug. 5 but will rejoin the major-league club with Angel Felipe (elbow) heading to the injured list. Scott has a 6.60 ERA over 15 big-league innings this season between stints with the Red Sox, Dodgers and A's.

  • Athletics' Tayler Scott: Sent to Triple-A

Scott was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday. Scott was claimed off waivers by Oakland shortly after the All-Star break and gave up three earned runs over 5.1 frames during his time with the big club. The right-hander could rejoin the A's later on when they need bullpen depth.

  • Athletics' Tayler Scott: Serving as opener Tuesday

Scott will serve as Oakland's opening pitcher in Tuesday's game against the Giants. After being claimed off waivers from Boston last week, Scott made his first two appearances with Oakland out of the bullpen. The 31-year-old will now get the chance to make his first start as a member of the Athletics, though he's unlikely to pitch more than an inning or two before giving way to Ken Waldichuk, who is expected to serve as a bulk reliever.

  • Dodgers' Tayler Scott: Designated for assignment

The Dodgers designated Scott for assignment Saturday. Scott allowed six earned runs over six innings after being promoted to the majors June 3, and he has now officially lost his spot on the Dodgers' roster. Scott has a nice Triple-A stat line (1.37 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) which helps his chances of getting claimed by another organization. Bryan Hudson was selected from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move and will take Scott's place in the Dodgers' bullpen.

  • Dodgers' Tayler Scott: Recalled from Triple-A

Scott was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. The 31-year-old was just sent down Tuesday, but he's quickly back with the big club to replace the injured Noah Syndergaard (blister). Scott should operate in middle relief.

  • Dodgers' Tayler Scott: Optioned back to Triple-A

The Dodgers optioned Scott to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Nick Robertson will join the Dodgers' bullpen in a corresponding roster move. Scott has made only one appearance this season at the major-league level.
