Norby slashed .247/.315/.445 with seven homers over 36 games for Miami last season after being acquired from Baltimore.

Marlins' Connor Norby: Batting second in return from IL
The Marlins reinstated Norby (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Thursday. He'll start at third base and bat second in the Marlins' series finale versus the Diamondbacks.
Graham Pauley was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move, clearing the way for Norby to step back in as Miami's primary third baseman. The 24-year-old had been on track to open the season as an everyday player for the Marlins before he strained his left oblique in the Marlins' penultimate spring training game. After a few weeks of rest and rehab, Norby was cleared to head out on a rehab assignment last weekend, and he went 4-for-8 with a solo home run and a pair of walks over three games with Jacksonville. Now healthy, Norby will likely continue to maintain a prominent spot in the Miami lineup against both right- and left-handed pitching.

Marlins' Connor Norby: Set to begin rehab assignment
Norby (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
It will be the first game action for Norby since he sustained a left oblique strain in late March. The Marlins haven't revealed how long the rehab assignment is likely to last, but Norby should be back well before the end of April. Once he's ready, he'll serve as Miami's everyday third baseman.

The report doesn't outline specifically what Norby is doing as he works his way back from a left oblique strain, but the fact that he's not shut down from activity can be taken as a positive sign. Norby still appears to be multiple weeks away from being ready to make his 2025 debut, though a firmer target date for his return should come into focus once he's cleared to go out on a minor-league rehab assignment.

The Marlins placed Norby (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Norby was diagnosed with a Grade 1 left oblique strain and will be sidelined to begin the season, paving the way for Graham Pauley, Eric Wagaman and Jonah Bride to see extra playing time at third base. According to MLB.com, Norby resumed baseball activities Wednesday, but he's still expected to be sidelined until around late April.
