Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Returns to action at Triple-A
Barrosa (hamstring) has started in five games since being activated from Triple-A Reno's 7-day injured list April 11, going 6-for-19 with a home run, a double, three walks, seven RBI and three runs.
Barrosa required only a brief stint on Reno's IL to begin the season while he worked his way back from the strained right hamstring he suffered in a Feb. 26 Cactus League game. Barrosa (hamstring) was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Friday.
Barrosa strained his hamstring earlier this month and will miss the first few weeks of the season, but he will reach Triple-A for the first time in his career once he's healthy. Barrosa was removed from Saturday's game due to hamstring tightness, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.
Barrosa started in center field against the Rockies and walked in his only at-bat before being removed in the bottom of the second inning. He reached Double-A Amarillo in 2022 and is not expected to be part of the MLB roster in 2023. Barrosa's best assets are defense and speed. Barrosa was added to Arizona's 40-man roster Tuesday.
