Kim will rejoin San Diego for spring training in Arizona with Korea eliminated from the World Baseball Classic, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Though Kim went just 3-for-16 during WBC play, all three of his hits left the park, and he tallied five runs along with six RBI. He also struck out just one time and walked twice. Kim should resume playing in Cactus League contests shortly as he prepares to open the regular season as the Padres' starting second baseman.... See More ... See Less

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Absent from Wednesday's lineup
Kim isn't starting Wednesday against the Giants, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Kim is in the midst of a three-game hitting streak in which he's gone 5-for-11 with a homer, a double, three RBI, two runs and a stolen base. He'll get a breather while Jake Cronenworth starts at shortstop and bats cleanup.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Goes deep Sunday
Kim went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the White Sox. Kim accounted for San Diego's only run in the loss with his 416-foot solo shot to left field in the seventh inning. It was his 11th homer of the campaign and his first extra-base hit of any kind since Sept. 25. Kim has posted a .249/.322/.380 slash line along with 57 RBI, 57 runs and 11 stolen bases over 148 games in his second major-league season.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Posts 11th steal
Kim went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-1 loss to the White Sox. Kim hit just .207 (19-for-92) in September, adding three home runs, four doubles, seven RBI, eight runs scored and two steals in 25 contests. The shortstop nonetheless has maintained a near-everyday role. He's at a .248/.320/.375 slash line with 11 steals, 10 homers, 56 RBI and 56 runs scored through 146 games this season.... See More ... Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Three hits Sunday
Kim went 3-for-6 with two doubles and two runs scored in Sunday's 13-6 victory over Colorado. Kim delivered hitting out of the leadoff spot Sunday. He recorded three hits for the second time in his last 10 games, during which he is batting .316 with two home runs, five RBI and seven runs scored. Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Swats 10th homer
Kim went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win against St. Louis. Kim produced the only long ball in the contest, going deep to left field in the fourth inning. It was his second homer in his past four games and his 10th of the season. Kim recently underwent an 0-for-18 slump at the plate but has bounced back by going 6-for-18 over his subsequent five contests.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Fills stat sheet Friday
Kim went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, a stolen base and three total runs scored in Friday's 12-3 win over the Diamondbacks. Kim did a little bit of everything in this contest, putting together productive at-bats from the No. 5 spot. This was his first multi-hit game since Sept. 2 -- in the 11 games in between, he went a paltry 4-for-38 (.105). The shortstop still isn't at risk of losing much playing time, and he's had an altogether solid year with nine homers, 10 steals, 52 RBI, 52 runs scored and a .251/.324/.379 slash line through 134 contests.... Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Clubs eighth homer
Kim went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks. Kim entered Tuesday with no extra-base hits or RBI in his last nine contests. He changed that with a fifth-inning solo shot, his eighth homer of the season and his second since the start of August. The shortstop continues to do alright in a starting role, with a .256/.329/.382 slash line, 50 RBI, 49 runs scored and nine stolen bases through 126 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Gets Sunday off
Kim is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Kansas City. Jake Cronenworth will slide over to shortstop to fill in for Kim, who is taking a seat for the first time since Aug. 14. Kim came up big at the plate over the first two games of the series with the Royals, going 4-for-10 with a home run, a double and five RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Knocks in five
Kim went 3-for-6 with a two-run single, a two-run double and a two-run home run in Friday's win over the Royals. Kim had an incredible game Friday, just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. Austin Nola, Jose Azocar and Jake Cronenworth benefitted from Kim's stellar night as they reached home thanks to Kim. The homer was Kim's seventh of the year and his first since July 29. Although the shortstop has been suffering from a lack of power until Friday's outing, he has gone 26-of-84 this month for a .310 batting average. He is now slashing .259/.334/.388 on the year.... Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Swipes bag Sunday
Kim went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Nationals. Kim has cooled off a bit since his three-hit, four-RBI game Wednesday. Across his last four contests, he's gone 2-for-13 with a pair of walks, though he was able to add a steal Sunday, which was his second in August and his ninth of the year. The shortstop is slashing .252/.329/.375 with six home runs, 44 RBI and 44 runs scored through 113 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Drives in four runs Wednesday
Kim went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, a run and four RBI in a 10-3 victory against Miami on Wednesday. The Padres scored five runs in the first inning, with the fifth among that tally coming on a Kim double that scored Trent Grisham. Kim also produced the final three runs of the contest with a bases-clearing double in the ninth. The shortstop has three multi-hit performances over his past five contests to push his season batting average to .255. He's slashing .310/.344/.483 with eight doubles and nine RBI through 16 games in August.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Held out for first time this month
Kim is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Kim is riding a six-game hitting streak and has doubled in five straight appearances, but he also started the last 21 games, so manager Bob Melvin decided it was time for a day off. Jake Cronenworth will man the shortstop position Sunday for the Padres.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Likely to keep everyday role
Kim is expected to continue as the Padres' everyday shortstop with Fernando Tatis suspended into next season, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports. There were questions about how Tatis' imminent return would impact Kim's playing time, but with the former handed an 80-game ban Friday for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance, those questions are now moot. Though the loss of Tatis for this campaign and beyond is massively disappointing for the Padres, there is at least some consolation in the fact that Kim has been a defensive standout this season and has shown improvement at the plate. Since July 1, Kim is slashing .301/.344/.442 with two home runs, 15 RBI, 13 runs and four stolen bases over 35 games.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Swipes bag in loss
Kim went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in a loss to the Twins on Saturday. Kim followed his big game Friday with a more modest performance Saturday, though fantasy managers who roster the infielder will largely be satisfied with the stolen base. The 26-year-old has swiped a bag in each of his past two games and is up to seven thefts on the campaign, one more than he logged in 117 contests last season. Kim has shown improvement this year with a .244/.329/.365 slash line, six homers and 35 RBI, though he'll likely lose playing time when Fernando Tatis (wrist) finally makes his return to the team.... Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Fills stat sheet Friday
Kim went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, a stolen base and two total runs scored in Friday's 10-1 win over the Twins. Kim went yard in the second inning, snapping a 17-game homer drought. The shortstop also singled, stole second and scored in the fifth. This was just his second multi-hit performance since the All-Star break. For the season, he's slashing .243/.327/.365 with six homers, 35 RBI, 38 runs scored and six stolen bases in 91 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Added to Saturday's lineup
Kim was added to the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets, Bob Scanlan of Bally Sports San Diego reports. Kim was initially slated to be out of the lineup for a third consecutive game, but he'll start at shortstop and bat ninth after CJ Abrams (undisclosed) was scratched. Over his last seven games, Kim has hit .333 with three doubles, four RBI, two runs and a stolen base.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Remains out of lineup
