  • Braves' Luis Liberato: Gets minors deal from Atlanta

Liberato signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Nov. 19.

Liberato got a cup of coffee with the Padres in 2022 but spent all of 2023 at Triple-A El Paso, putting up an .826 OPS with nine homers in 69 contests. The 27-year-old is likely headed to Triple-A Gwinnett to begin the 2024 campaign.

  • Padres' Luis Liberato: Shifted to MiLB camp

The Padres reassigned Liberato to minor-league camp Friday.

Liberato cracked the majors for the first time in his career last season, but was held hitless in five at-bats. He will almost certainly return to Triple-A El Paso for the start of 2023, where he slashed .261/.354/.541 over 390 plate appearances last year.

  • Padres' Luis Liberato: Bags spring training invite

The Padres announced Wednesday that Liberato has been invited to big-league spring training.

Liberato was designated for assignment in November and was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso after clearing waivers. The 27-year-old played well for Triple-A El Paso in 2022, supplying an .895 OPS over 390 plate appearances. He received the chance to make his big-league debut for the Padres in September, but now that he no longer possesses a spot on the 40-man roster, Liberato will most likely be set to return to El Paso to begin the 2023 campaign.

  • Padres' Luis Liberato: DFA'd by San Diego

Liberato was designated for assignment by the Padres on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old had his contract selected by San Diego in early September and went 0-for-5 in seven games. If Liberato clears waivers, he could head back to Triple-A El Paso, where he has a .261/.354/.541 slash line with 20 home runs and 59 RBI in 99 contests this year.

  • Padres' Luis Liberato: Selected by San Diego

Liberato's contract was selected from Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

The 26-year-old has never played in the majors, but he earned his first call-up by socking 20 home runs and posting an .895 OPS over 99 games with El Paso this season. He will join an already-crowded outfield, so he will likely fill only a limited role with the big club.

  • Mariners' Luis Liberato: Promoted to Double-A

Liberato was promoted to Double-A Arkansas on Thursday, Travelers play-by-play announcer Steven Davis reports.

The 23-year-old was enjoying a solid season at High-A Modesto, slashing .283/.360/.440 with seven home runs and 29 RBI over 192 plate appearances across 44 games. Liberato's professional career dates back to 2014, and his stint with the Travelers will mark his second exposure to Double-A ball. The outfielder also logged three games with the Jackson Generals, a Mariners affiliate until three seasons ago, back in 2015.
