  • Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Out until mid-to-late August

The Brewers announced Tuesday that Hoskins (thumb) is hoping to return from the 10-day injured list by mid-to late-August, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Hoskins has a Grade 2 UCL sprain in his left thumb, an injury he suffered while applying a tag during Saturday's loss to the Marlins. Andrew Vaughn started at first base for the Brewers in Monday's win over the Dodgers and could be the primary option at the position while Hoskins is on the shelf. Jake Bauers should also be in the mix for playing time at first base.

  • Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Move to IL made official

The Brewers placed Hoskins on the 10-day injured list Monday with a Grade 2 left thumb sprain. Hoskins was hurt during Saturday's loss to the Marlins, and a subsequent MRI revealed the structural damage to his thumb. He'll be eligible to return at the start of the second half, but there's a good chance Hoskins will need more time than that to recover. Andrew Vaughn has been summoned from Triple-A Nashville to take Hoskins' spot on the roster, and Vaughn will see action at first base along with Jake Bauers while Hoskins is shelved.

  • Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Ticketed for IL with thumb sprain

Hoskins is expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list Monday after an MRI on his left thumb revealed a Grade 2 sprain, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Hoskins exited Saturday's 4-2 loss to Miami after sustaining the thumb injury while applying a tag on the Marlins' Eric Wagaman, though he was able to remain in the game after the play. While the Brewers quickly ruled out a thumb fracture, Hoskins still ended up sitting out Sunday's 3-1 win while he awaited the results of his MRI, which brought unfavorable news. The Brewers haven't yet offered up a timeline for Hoskins' return, but he'll be out through at least the All-Star break. Jake Bauers drew the start at first base in Hoskins' stead, but Andrew Vaughn could be called up from Triple-A Nashville to take over as the Brewers' primary option at the position while Hoskins is on the mend.

  • Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Out multiple days

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said after Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Marlins that Hoskins will be out at least a few days with a left thumb injury, though the first baseman didn't suffer a fracture, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Hoskins jammed his thumb while tagging out Eric Wagaman at first base in the fourth inning Saturday and remained in the game for the rest of the frame before being replaced by Jake Bauers. Hoskins admitted that he was in quite a bit of pain after the game and wouldn't have been able to swing a bat again Saturday, so it's not clear if he'll be able to return early next week.

Hoskins suffered the injury while tagging out Eric Wagaman in the fourth inning. He remained in for the rest of the frame but was replaced by Jake Bauers at first base to start the fifth. The Brewers should provide more details regarding the severity of Hoskins' injury relatively soon, but the slugging first baseman can be considered day-to-day for now.

Hoskins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Red Sox. • Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Continues to roll with sixth homer

Hoskins went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Orioles. It was the sixth home run of the season for Hoskins, who continues to put a dreadful start to the year behind him. Starting from the game when he launched his first long ball of the season back on April 15, the veteran first baseman is hitting .347 (35-for-101) with eight doubles, 22 RBI and 14 runs scored covering 31 outings. Although his .297 average on the season figures to regress at some point toward his .241 mark for his career in this area, Hoskins is certainly worth a look in all fantasy leagues for rosters in need of power.
