Bradley was released by the Guardians on Saturday. Bradley was the Guardians' Opening Day first baseman but was designated for assignment at the start of May after grabbing just two hits in eight games. His struggles continued at the Triple-A level, where he hit .174/.268/.359 with a 37.4 percent strikeout rate in 47 games. The 26-year-old has plenty of power, as evidenced by his 14.8 percent barrel rate in 97 big-league contests, but his 37.1 percent career strikeout rate leaves him well short of being a major-league regular.... Guardians' Bobby Bradley: Outrighted to Triple-A
Bradley was outrighted to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday. Bradley was designated for assignment by the Guardians on Sunday but will remain in the organization. He appeared in just eight major-league games to begin the season, but he'll presumably see more playing time in Columbus.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bobby Bradley: DFA'd by Guardians
Bradley was designated for assignment by the Guardians on Sunday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. Bradley saw sporadic playing time with the major-league club this year and hit .118 with a run and nine strikeouts over eight games. The 25-year-old is out of options, so he'll be cast off the 40-man roster prior to Monday's cutdown deadline. If Bradley isn't claimed on waivers, he'll likely head to Triple-A Columbus.... Guardians' Bobby Bradley: Not seizing playing time
Bradley, who is not in Saturday's lineup against the Yankees, is hitting .067 with eight strikeouts in 15 plate appearances. It's not that surprising to see Bradley on the bench against lefty Nestor Cortes, but he clearly hasn't seized any extra playing time, even with Owen Miller on the COVID-19 injured list. Bradley is out of minor-league options, so the Guardians will keep carrying him as a lefty slugger in the short term.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bobby Bradley: Appears to lose hold of 1B job
Bradley is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds. The lefty-hitting Bradley will sit for the third straight game, with his most recent two absences coming with the opposition bringing right-handed starting pitchers to the hill. Bradley initially appeared set to open the season in a strong-side platoon role at first base, but manager Terry Francona has seemingly settled on Owen Miller as the preferred option versus both left- and right-handed pitching for the time being.... Guardians' Bobby Bradley: Remains out of lineup
Bradley is out of the lineup again for Monday's series finale against the Royals. For the second straight day, Bradley is absent from the Guardians' starting lineup. The 25-year-old has started the season 0-for-4, but it's hard to read into it that much considering the small sample size. Manager Terry Francona has decided to go with Owen Miller at first base again Monday and he will bat sixth.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bobby Bradley: Takes seat Sunday
Bradley is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Kansas City. Bradley is 0-for-4 across the first two games of the season and will head to the bench with southpaw Kris Bubic pitching for the Royals. Owen Miller will start at first base for Cleveland on Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Bobby Bradley: Seeing starting reps at first base
Bradley is 5-for-25 (.200) with a double, two runs scored and seven strikeouts through nine Cactus League games. That's not great for the Guardians' presumed starting first baseman. Bradley is expected to work at least in a platoon role -- with Yu Chang (second base) and Josh Naylor (right field) solidifying their own starting roles, Bradley figures to share first base with Owen Miller. Last season, Bradley slashed a mediocre .208/.294/.445 with 16 home runs, 41 RBI and 36 runs scored. He also posted a .237 ISO and a 35.5 percent strikeout rate, so it's often boom or bust with the power-hitting 25-year-old.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Takes seat Sunday
Bradley is not starting Sunday's game against the Rangers. Bradley has hit just .147, albeit with three home runs, in his last 10 games. Yu Chang is starting at first base Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Swats 16th homer
Bradley went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and four strikeouts in Friday's 9-6 win over Texas. The first baseman donned the golden sombrero Friday, but he was able to make an impact with his fourth-inning solo shot, sparking a five-run rally. Bradley's power hasn't been in doubt this year with 16 homers and a .450 slugging percentage in 276 plate appearances. He's also struck out at a 35.1 percent clip, and that's ticked up to a 40.5 percent rate in his last 10 games.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Still not starting
Bradley isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals. Bradley will be out of the starting nine for a second straight game after he went 0-for-14 with two RBI, a walk and seven strikeouts across his last four appearances. Yu Chang will start at first base and bat sixth.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Cranks 15th homer
Bradley went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk during Thursday's loss to the White Sox. Bradley left the yard against Reynaldo Lopez with a 394-foot blast during the first game of Thursday's doubleheader. The 25-year-old also homered during his last game played Monday against the Royals. Overall this year, Bradley is hitting .222/.315/.477 with 15 long balls.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Sitting against southpaw
Bradley is not starting Tuesday against the Royals. Bradley moves back to the bench for the second time in five games. Owen Miller will start at first base and bat sixth against lefty Daniel Lynch.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Belts 14th homer
Bradley went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Royals. He took Scott Barlow deep in the seventh inning, but it was too little too late in a 4-2 loss as Cleveland got swept in the twin bill. Bradley is slashing .235/.310/.412 through 16 games in September with two of his 14 homers on the year.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Heads to bench
Bradley will not start Saturday's game against the Yankees. Bradley sits after starting four straight games at first base, a stretch in which he went 3-for-13 with two doubles and a homer. Yu Chang starts in his place.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Homers, drives in three
Bradley went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 12-4 win over the Twins. Bradley got things started for Cleveland with an RBI double that opened the scoring in the fourth inning, then he clubbed a two-run homer in the seventh to make it a 10-0 game. The long ball was Bradley's 13th of the season and first since Aug. 31, snapping his 11-game homerless drought.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Not starting Sunday
Bradley is on the bench for Sunday's game against the Brewers. He sits following an 0-for-3, three-strikeout effort Saturday that lowered his average to .250 with a home run and seven RBI in his last 10 games. Yu Chang starts at first base and bats sixth Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Sits against southpaw
Bradley isn't starting Thursday's game against the Twins. Bradley hasn't started against a southpaw since he returned to the field in late August, and he'll retreat to the bench against left-hander Andrew Albers on Thursday. Yu Chang will start at first base and bat sixth.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: Retreats to bench
Bradley isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Minnesota. Bradley has recorded hits in each of the last four games, and he went 5-for-13 with a double, four runs, three RBI and three walks during that time. Yu Chang will start at first base and bat seventh.... See More ... See Less -
Indians' Bobby Bradley: On bench Thursday
Bradley is not in the lineup Thursday against the Royals. Bradley started the last four games since being activated from the injured list Saturday and will receive a day off after going 3-for-17 with a home run and three RBI. Yu Chang will start at first base against Kansas City lefty Mike Minor.... See More ... See Less
