  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Serves as DH

Devers started at designated hitter and went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's 20-7 loss to Colorado.

Devers, who was initially penciled in at third base, was moved to DH as a precaution after he survived a shoulder-injury scare Tuesday. He stayed in Tuesday's game following the incident and looked good swinging the bat Wednesday. With a team day off Thursday, Devers could return to the field for Friday's series opener at Fenway Park against the Yankees.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Survives injury scare

Devers experienced shoulder discomfort after attempting a diving stop on a grounder in Tuesday's 6-0 win over the Rockies, but he was able to stay in and finish the game, MLB.com reports. He went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, an RBI and a run in the victory.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said the shoulder was jammed and noted Devers took some "vicious hacks" later in the game. Cora added Devers would be ready to go for Wednesday's series finale.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Homers in win Saturday

Devers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-0 win against the Royals on Saturday.

Devers capped the scoring in the contest with a solo blast in the fifth inning. It was his 22nd long ball of the season, tied for eighth most in the majors. Devers also has 59 RBI and is on pace to reach both 30 home runs and 100 RBI for the third time in the past four seasons.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Will rest shoulder over break

Devers will skip next week's All-Star Game in order to rest a nagging left shoulder injury, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Devers missed a few games back in April after injuring the shoulder and it's evidently still caused discomfort at times. The third baseman's production has gotten better every month this season, so the injury doesn't seem to be affecting him much. He has started every game since June 11, including Tuesday's versus the Athletics. Still, Devers and the Red Sox felt it was best for him to rest up over the All-Star break. A replacement for Devers on the American League roster will be announced in the coming days.
