Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Fans nine in tough loss
Wheeler (10-2) took the loss Tuesday as the Phillies fell 2-1 to the Dodgers, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out nine without walking a batter.
The veteran right-hander fired 63 of 93 pitches for strikes en route to his 12th quality start of the season, and Wheeler's only real mistake resulted in a two-run homer by Max Muncy in the fourth inning. His offense couldn't get much done to support him, however. It was Wheeler's first loss since May 29, and over nine starts since he's delivered a 2.08 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 77:13 K:BB over 56.1 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Miami.

Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Not starting this weekend
Wheeler will not make a start during this weekend's series with the Mets, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Both Cristopher Sanchez and Wheeler will not start during the upcoming three-game series against the Mets, as Philadelphia will throw Aaron Nola on Thursday followed by Jesus Luzardo and Alan Rangel on Saturday and Sunday. By doing so, Sanchez and Wheeler will be lined up to start the first two games of next week's three-game series against the Dodgers. Wheeler went 10-1 with a 2.13 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 108:22 K:BB across 93 innings prior to the All-Star break.

Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Goes 4.2 innings vs. Pirates
Wheeler did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Pirates, allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk across 4.2 innings. He struck out 10.
It was an odd start for Wheeler, as he set a season high with 10 strikeouts but also gave up a season-high 10 hits while failing to make it through five innings for the first time this year. The poor showing also ended a three-start win streak. Overall, the 36-year-old Wheeler is 8-1 with a 2.36 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 84:20 K:BB across 13 starts (80 innings). He's currently lined up to face the Reds on the road in his next outing.
