Freeman went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBI in a 7-3 win against the Tigers on Saturday. Freeman put the Dodgers on the board with a 418-foot solo homer in the first inning and added a run-scoring double in the seventh. The star first baseman has gone deep in each of his past two games and has four RBI over that span. Freeman appears to be well past the rib issue that kept him out of Los Angeles' first two games of the campaign in Tokyo during mid-March.... See More ... See Less

Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Slugs first homer of 2025
Freeman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 8-5 victory against the Tigers. The Dodgers were shut out by Jack Flaherty until the sixth inning, when Freeman tagged his former teammate for a two-run homer to center field. The blast was the first hit of the season for Freeman, who sat out Los Angeles' two-game, season-opening set against the Cubs in Tokyo due to an injury to his ribs. The veteran first baseman appears to be fine now and has been relatively durable in recent campaigns, as he hasn't missed time due to an injured-list stint since 2017.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Back for Freeway Series
Freeman (rib) is starting at first base and batting third in Sunday's exhibition game against the Angels, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that he expected Freeman to be ready for the Freeway Series versus the Halos, and the first baseman is indeed back in the lineup Sunday. Freeman sat out the season-opening series versus the Cubs in Tokyo due to left rib discomfort, but his absence appears to have been more of a precautionary measure. Barring a setback, the 35-year-old should be good to go at first base for the Dodgers in Thursday's domestic opener versus the Tigers.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Expected back in action soon
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that he expects Freeman (rib) to play in the upcoming Freeway Series against the Angels, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Freeman lobbied to play in the second game of the Tokyo Series, but the team decided it was best to take the cautious route, per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports. Freeman was said to be feeling "much better than [Tuesday]," when he had to be scratched from the lineup for the season opener. Roberts wouldn't commit to Freeman playing in the exhibition series against the Angels, but it sounds like the team is cautiously optimistic the first baseman will be able to return to action and log at least a few reps ahead of the March 27 domestic opener against the Tigers.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Sitting again in Tokyo
Freeman (rib) is not in the lineup for the second game of the Tokyo Series against the Cubs on Wednesday. A late scratch from the starting nine for the season opener, Freeman estimated his chances of playing in the series finale at 75 percent when speaking to the media after Tuesday's game. However, he will be held out of the lineup yet again. Freeman said the discomfort is in the same spot where he tore rib cartilage during the postseason last fall, and while he said the soreness is less severe this time, it's possible he will require addition testing once the Dodgers return home to Los Angeles.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Could debut Wednesday
Freeman (rib) estimated after Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Cubs that he has a "75 percent chance" of being ready to play in Wednesday's series finale in Tokyo, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Freeman was a late scratch from Tuesday's lineup after feeling discomfort in his left ribcage during batting practice. The first baseman noted that the soreness is in the same spot where he tore rib cartilage during the postseason last fall, although he added that the current issue is less severe. While Freeman seems fairly optimistic about his chances of playing Wednesday, it would not be a surprise if the Dodgers exercised caution and elected to hold him out until next week's domestic opener.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Scratched with left rib discomfort
Freeman was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's season opener against the Cubs in Tokyo due to left rib discomfort, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Vassegh notes that Freeman was on the field for batting practice prior to the game and suggests the first baseman might have felt discomfort during batting practice. The timing is brutal, but if there is a silver lining, it's that Freeman's removal from the lineup is not related to the ankle that required surgery in the offseason.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Scratched from lineup
Freeman has been scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's season opener against the Cubs in Tokyo, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. The reason for Freeman's removal was not immediately available. He was brought along slowly in camp after undergoing right ankle surgery in December. Enrique Hernandez will move in to first base, opening up left field for Michael Conforto against left-hander Shota Imanaga.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Appears to be past ankle injury
Freeman started at first base in Sunday's Cactus League win over the White Sox and went 1-for-2 with a solo home run. Freeman entered camp behind other Dodgers position players after undergoing an ankle procedure in early December, and he didn't begin running until Feb 20. The veteran first baseman made his spring debut Feb. 26, though he was relegated to DH duties in his first two Cactus League games. However, Freeman was able to play the field Sunday and didn't seem to be bothered by the ankle -- in fact, he recorded the first out of the contest on a groundball that he fielded cleanly before jogging to the bag. His bat has also looked great so far this spring, as Freeman has gone 3-for-8 with a pair of home runs through three games.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Playing first game at first base
Freeman (ankle) will start at first base and bat third in Sunday's Cactus League game against the White Sox. Freeman's previous two spring training starts had come as a designated hitter, but he'll return to his familiar post at first base now that he's resumed full defensive work following offseason surgery to remove loose bodies from his right ankle. The 35-year-old is on track to man first base in both of the Dodgers' games in the season-opening series versus the Cubs in Tokyo on March 18 and 19. Manager Dave Roberts said earlier in the spring that he plans to deploy Freeman as the Dodgers' full-time No. 3 hitter in 2025, which should lead to plenty of RBI opportunities while he slots behind Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Nearing defensive work
Freeman (ankle) is hoping to play first base in a Cactus League game Sunday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports. Freeman took a significant step in his recovery from offseason ankle surgery Thursday, as he made his spring training debut and went 1-for-3 as a designated hitter. He plans to serve as the DH again Saturday before taking the field at first base Sunday. Freeman is expected to be ready for the team's opening series of the regular season on March 18 and 19, though he did acknowledge he'll need to wrap his ankle and isn't likely to feel fully healthy for the first half of the season.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Set for spring debut Thursday
Manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Freeman (ankle) will make his Cactus League debut Thursday against the Rockies as the Dodgers' designated hitter, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Since he's working his way back from December surgery to remove loose bodies in his right ankle, Freeman will be eased into the spring lineup in a non-defensive role, but he should be ready for a full-time role at first base once the Dodgers open their season with a two-game set in Tokyo versus the Cubs on March 18 and 19. Roberts confirmed last week that he plans to have the reigning World Series MVP slot in as the Dodgers' primary No. 3 batter in 2025, with Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts hitting in front of him and Teoscar Hernandez occupying the cleanup spot.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Spring debut could come Thursday
Freeman (ankle) could make his Cactus League debut Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Freeman has been brought along slowly in Dodgers camp following December surgery to remove loose bodies in his right ankle, but he's progressing well. The veteran first baseman will get some at-bats in a minor-league game Monday and is tracking toward his first official spring training action later this week. Freeman is expected to be ready to go for the Dodgers' season-opening two-game series against the Cubs in Tokyo on March 18-19.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Begins running progression
Freeman (ankle) began a running progression Thursday and is on track to make his Cactus League debut next week, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The 35-year-old has been a bit behind his fellow Dodger position players following December surgery to remove loose bodies in his right ankle. However, it would appear Freeman is close to being fully cleared for all activities, and the team remains confident he will be ready to go for a season-opening two-game series against the Cubs in Tokyo on March 18-19.... Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Not yet running
Freeman (ankle) said Saturday that he has resumed swinging a bat but has yet to begin running this offseason, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Freeman added that he likely won't be ready for the start of Cactus League play, but he expects to be active for the Dodgers' two-game series against the Cubs in Tokyo. The 35-year-old first baseman underwent surgery to remove loose bodies in his right ankle in early December. He also reportedly tore ligaments in his ankle during the Dodgers' postseason run, but they healed before his procedure.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Undergoes ankle procedure
Freeman underwent surgery on his right ankle Thursday that involved the removal of loose bodies from the area. Ankle issues plagued Freeman throughout the Dodgers' postseason run, but the 35-year-old first baseman was able to play through the injury, winning World Series MVP honors in the process. He is still expected to participate in baseball activities during spring training, and his status for Opening Day shouldn't be affected.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Wins World Series MVP
Freeman was named the World Series MVP after Wednesday's win over the Yankees in Game 5. Freeman homered in each of the first four games of the series and added a two-RBI single during the Dodgers' rally in the fifth inning Wednesday. He drove in 12 runs during the Fall Classic, which tied the World Series record for RBI that was set by Bobby Richardson in 1960, per Buster Olney of ESPN. The 35-year-old entered the playoffs as a question mark due to an ankle injury but is now a two-time World Series champion.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Record-breaking homer in Game 4
Freeman went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI Tuesday as the Dodgers fell to the Yankees in Game 4 of the World Series. Freeman got things off on the right foot for the Dodgers, taking Luis Gil deep with a two-run blast in the top of the first inning. He's homered in all four games of the series and has gone deep in six straight World Series games overall, which is a major-league record. Freeman also added an RBI groundout later in the contest, which cut the Yankees' lead to 5-4 at the time before the Yanks put the game away late.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: In Game 1 lineup
Freeman (ankle) will start at first base and bat third Friday in Game 1 of the World Series versus the Yankees, Travis Sawchik of theScore.com reports. Freeman didn't play in Game 4 or Game 6 of the NLCS as he battles lingering soreness in his right ankle, but nearly a week off between games has the first baseman feeling better. The 35-year-old Freeman is 7-for-32 with zero extra-base hits and one RBI so far this postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Confident about Game 1 status
Freeman (ankle) said Tuesday that he believes it is "100 percent" he will be in the lineup for Game 1 of the World Series versus the Yankees on Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Freeman did not play in Game 6 of the NLCS on Sunday and has gone three days without running. The first baseman has been able to hit in that time and will go through his normal routine Tuesday, albeit without any running.... See More ... See Less
