Pitcher Javier Vazquez’s comeback will be delayed a few weeks. The 36-year-old righty will have his meniscus repaired on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Jim Bowden.

Meniscus injuries are generally minor and don’t require a lot of recovery time. Vazquez should be healthy in two to three weeks, according to Bowden. Provided he experiences no setbacks, this should just be just a blip in Vazquez's comeback attempt.

Vazquez, who nearly retired after the 2011 season, has been pitching in the Puerto Rico Winter League, and has been “impressive,” according to former infielder Alex Cora, who is the general manager of Vazquez’s Winter League club. There were also reports that Vazquez’s fastball has hit 93 mph this winter. There are at least seven teams interested in Vazquez, according to Bowden.

In 2011, Vazquez had a 3.69 ERA and a 3.57 FIP in 192 2/3 innings with the Marlins. A 14-year veteran, Vazquez has also played for the Expos, Yankees, Diamondbacks, White Sox and Braves.
