Marlins masher Giancarlo Stanton has been out since worsening his right knee injury on July 7 and then undergoing surgery to remove loose bodies. Now, though, he's sufficiently recovered, and he's been returned to the active roster, MLB.com's Tom Green reports.

On the season, the 22-year-old Stanton is hitting .284/.364/.554 and, despite missing the last month, finds himself just outside the NL top 10 with 19 home runs.

While Stanton's return won't move the needle insofar as the Marlins' playoff chances are concerned (CoolStandings.com gives them less than a 1% chance of making the postseason), it will be nice to see one of baseball's biggest young stars ply his trade once again.

To make room for Stanton on the 25-man, the Marlins have deactivated infielder Donnie Murphy.
