  • Marlins OF/1B Logan Morrison, out since July 29 with right knee inflammation, needs another three weeks of rest and rehab, tweeted The Palm Beach Post's Joe Capozzi. 

  • It was thought that Red Sox DH David Ortiz might be ready to play Thursday night in Cleveland, but The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo tweeted that it doesn't appear Ortiz is ready. Cafardo added that Ortiz should play at some point in the series against the Indians

  • Reds 1B Joey Votto told the Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay that "he's not ready," and the earliest Votto could return is August 14, wrote Fay. 

  • Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval was out running the bases on Wednesday, wrote Henry Schulman in the San Francisco Chronicle, and Sandoval's leg felt good. Sandoval's been out since July 25 with a strained left hamstring. 

  • In Blue Jays injury-related news, Adam Lind's back is still giving him trouble, wrote Sportsnet's Shi Davidi, and Brandon Morrow had a succesful rehab start with Double-A New Hampshire on Wednesday night. Morrow will make one more start -- maybe two, depending on pitch counts -- with the Fisher Cats. 

  • Finally, Rays DH Luke Scott, out since July 21 with an oblique strain, had a successful hitting session on Thursday and will start a rehab assignment on Friday with Class A Port Charlotte, tweeted the Tampa Bay Times' Joe Smith.
