The reigning-champion Cardinals have added to the bullpen by acquiring right-hander Edward Mujica from the Marlins in exchange for infield prospect Zack Cox, Peter Gammons reports and CBSSports.com's Danny Knobler confirms.

Mujica this season has a 4.38 ERA in 39.0 innings, and for his career he has a 4.13 ERA.

While Mujica is occasionally homer-prone, he does miss bats at a solid rate and exhibit good control. He'll give the Cardinals some needed right-side, middle-relief depth behind Mitchell Boggs.

As for Cox, the 23-year-old third baseman is hitting .254/.294/.421 for Triple-A Memphis. He was the Cardinals' top pick of the 2010 draft.
