Thunder's Mitch McGary: Roster spot could be in jeopardy

McGary (suspension) could be at risk of losing his roster spot before the start of the upcoming season, Royce Young of ESPN.com reports.

With the Thunder acquiring Joffrey Lauvergne from the Nuggets on Tuesday, the team now has 16 guaranteed contracts on the books for 2016-17. It's likely that the team will cut a frontcourt player as a result, with the underachieving McGary the most likely victim. Last season, the 2014 first-round pick saw his number of appearances (20) and minutes per game (3.6) both drop considerably from his rookie year, and has already been suspended for the first five games of the upcoming season due to a violation of the NBA's drug policy. Only an impressive training camp might be able to save McGary from getting waived.
