New Kentucky coach Mark Pope is putting the finishing touches on a complete overhaul of the Kentucky basketball roster. All 13 scholarship players from John Calipari's final team ended up departing for various reasons. Ten of those scholarships have been filled thus far and Pope told Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports recently that he plans to fill at least two more soon. The 13th spot has been earmarked as a "floating piece" they will have in their back pocket. What's next for Pope as he finalizes his first Kentucky basketball lineup and seeks out Kentucky basketball recruits? Kentucky basketball roster departures

No sooner had Calipari departed Kentucky that a number of Wildcats from last year's roster were on the move as well. Aaron Bradshaw was the first to commit to a new team when he joined the Ohio State Buckeyes, while Zvonimir Ivisic became the first player from last season to follow Calipari to Arkansas. Calipari is also reportedly encouraging Bradshaw's high school teammate, D.J. Wagner, to join the Razorbacks.

The transfer portal isn't the only reason the Wildcats roster will look different next season. Antonio Reeves and Tre Mitchell, who were two of Kentucky's top scorers last season, are both graduating. Meanwhile, Justin Edwards, Rob Dillingham and Ugonna Onyenso have all declared for the 2024 NBA Draft. There is also movement within the recruiting class, so Pope's roster is clearly far from solidified for the 2024-25 season. Join CatsPause to see the latest on all of Kentucky's roster changes

Kentucky basketball news, roster

Pope has 10 scholarships filled and he's done it mostly through adding proven college basketball veterans via the transfer portal. The headliners thus far are Oklahoma state center Brandon Garrison, Oklahoma wing Otega Oweh and San Diego State guard Lamont Butler Jr. They are all in the top 50 nationally in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings.

Kerr Kriisa, Koby Brea, Andrew Carr and Amari Williams are the other transfers coming in. The other three slots have been filled via the high school ranks. Travis Perry and Trent Noah, both Kentucky natives, are in the 2024 signing class. Collin Chandler originally signed with Pope at BYU in 2021, but after a two-year mission trip, he's flipped over to now join Kentucky's 2024 class. Join CatsPause to get the latest on all of Kentucky's roster additions
