  • Kristers Gudlevskis: Headed back to Russia

Gudlevskis signed a deal with Dinamo Riga on Thursday.

Gudlevskis came up through the Riga junior ranks, so this move is somewhat of a homecoming for the Latvian. Selected by the Lightning in the fifth round of the 2013 NHL Draft, the netminder was unable to crack the lineup for the Islanders last season, instead spending the year with AHL Bridgeport Sound. In 37 minor-league appearances, the 25-year-old registered a meager 12-16-2 record and .897 save percentage.

  • Islanders' Kristers Gudlevskis: Making preseason start

Gudlevskis will be the starting goaltender for Sunday's preseason tilt with Philadelphia.

Sunday will mark Gudlevskis' first time in a Isles uniform after being acquired from Tampa Bay in the offseason, though it's doubtful that he'll play the entire game. Gudlevskis and and fellow netminder Christopher Gibson will use this tilt as a likely audition for the No. 1 job at the AHL level.

  • Islanders' Kristers Gudlevskis: Earns new contract

Gudlevskis signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Islanders on Tuesday, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports, adding that the deal is worth $$650,000 in the NHL and $200,000 in the minors.

The Isles acquired the Latvian from Tampa Bay when the free-agency signing period opened July 1. Since Gudlevskis procured a two-way deal, he's likely to continue shuffling between the organization's ranks with minimal exposure to the NHL. This past season, Gudlevskis went 15-10-4 with a 2.65 GAA and .897 save percentage for AHL Syracuse. It's difficult to see the backstop possessing tangible fantasy value unless injuries threaten tenders Thomas Greiss or Jaroslav Halak.

  • Islanders' Kristers Gudlevskis: Acquired from Tampa Bay

Gudlevskis was traded to the Islanders on Saturday in exchange for forward Carter Verhaeghe, who becomes property of the Lightning, TSN reports.

The Latvian backstop moves to a franchise that relied on Thomas Greiss for 51 games in 2016-17, and one that will be paying Jaroslav Halak $4.5 million for one more year before he'll become an unrestricted free agent. Gudlevskis recorded a 15-10-4 record with an AHL Syracuse team that made it all the way to the 2017 Calder Cup Finals, but his regular-season peripherals (2.65 GAA, .897 save percentage) left a lot to be desired and he only factored into one playoff game. The 24-year-old will require a new contract from the Isles, as he's officially become a restricted free agent.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Shuffles back to minors

Gudlevskis was sent back down to AHL Syracuse on Tuesday, Bryan Burns of NHL.com reports.

The struggling Bolts are on an active four-game losing skid, so the team's understandably looking at its options in goal -- hence Gudlevskis' call-up Monday -- ahead of Thursday's home tilt against the Sabres. It's conceivable that he's heading back to the minors in order to make an appearance in Wednesday's road game against Utica. But at any rate, this news means more to the Lightning faithful than it does the majority of fantasy poolies; the Latvian has made just one appearance in the NHL this season and it was of the relief variety.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Promoted to parent club

Gudlevskis was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Tuesday.

Tampa Bay has only unleashed the Latvian once this season -- he was thrust into relief duty Dec. 23, when the Bolts were shut out by the Capitals on the road. At this stage, Gudlevskis figures to primarily play second fiddle to interim starter Andrei Vasilevskiy with Ben Bishop (lower body) on injured reserve, but his stay might be short-lived, as the latter is expected back near the middle of the month. That said, with Vasilevskiy struggling mightily, it wouldn't be a shock to see Gudlevskis find his way into a couple starts before Bishop returns.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Set to rejoin Lightning

Gudlevskis will rejoin the Lightning in place of Adam Wilcox.

Gudlevskis was sent back to the minors Jan. 4 after supplying just 11:27 of ice time in relief during the Dec. 23 tilt against the Capitals. Despite returning as the backup, Andrei Vasilevskiy should continue to shoulder nearly all the load in goal until Ben Bishop (lower body) is ready to return.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Reassigned to minors Wednesday

Gudlevskis was reassigned to AHL Syracuse on Wednesday, Bryan Burns of TampaBayLightning.com reports.

Gudlevskis had a near negligible impact during his seven game stay in the majors, stopping three of three saves while logging just 11:27 of ice time during a Dec. 23 gam with the Capitals. The Latvian netminder will now head back to the minors where he's gone 5-4-2 with a 2.89 GAA and .884 save percentage this season with the Crunch.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Enters in third period of loss

Gudlevskis stopped three shots after entering in the third period of Friday's 4-0 loss to the Capitals.

The game was far gone, with Gudlevski making his first appearance of the season. In his only start last year, the 24-year-old gave up one goal on 32 shots.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Called up from minors

Gudlevskis was recalled from AHL Syracuse on Wednesday, Lindsay Kramer of The Post-Standard reports.

Gudlevskis gets the promotion after Ben Bishop exited Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury. The Lightning have yet to provide any additional details, so it's unclear how long Gudlevskis will be up in the NHL. The Latvian has appeared in a mere two contests with Tampa Bay, none of which have come this season; it seems unlikely he will see too much ice now, as the team will turn the reins over to Andrei Vasilevskiy while Bishop is sidelined.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Reassigned to AHL Syracuse

Gudlevskis was reassigned to the minors Thursday.

Gudlevskis's demotion should come as no surprise after Andrei Vasilevskiy's performances in the postseason clearly locked him into the backup role. Gudlevskis will likely only find himself back in a Lightning uniform if there is an injury or Tampa Bay decides to trade one of its other two netminders. The 24-year-old's fantasy value will be limited this season, but owners in deep dynasty leagues may want to give him a look.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Inks one-year, two-way deal with Sharks

Gudlevskis signed a one-year, two-way contract extension with the Lightning on Saturday, Bryan Burns of NHL.com reports.

Gudlevskis made a spot-start for the Bolts last October and nearly shut out a Blackhawks team that had won the Stanley Cup earlier in 2015. As impressive as he was while having that cup of coffee with the parent club, Gudlevskis proved with Syracuse that he still needs time to develop. In 41 games, the 23-year-old went 16-12-8 with a 2.83 GAA and .907 save percentage. But the good news for the Latvian is that Ben Bishop, Tampa's No. 1 goalie, has just one year remaining on his contract with the Bolts and could ultimately get shipped with the team already re-signing big names in Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Rejoins Lightning

Gudlevskis was recalled by the Lightning on Monday, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Gudlevskis spent most of his season with AHL Syracuse, posting a 16-12-8 record with a 2.83 GAA and .907 save percentage with the Crunch. Despite receiving a recall, it's unlikely he will see any time in the crease during the team's 2015-16 postseason. The 23-year-old could eventually have a future in the NHL, but the Lightning have two strong netminding options, blocking his path to Tampa Bay.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Sent down to minors

Gudlevskis has been returned to AHL Syracuse.

The Bolts continue to rotate Gudlevskis and Andrei Vasilevskiy, who's been called up a corresponding move. Despite several promotions to the parent club this season, Gudlevskis has only made his way game. Back on Oct. 24, the 23-year-old stood tall in a road start against the Blackhawks and stopped 31 of 32 shots. Gudlevskis should get his chances in the coming years but it's no secret that it'll mostly be up to Ben Bishop to maintain Tampa's firm grip on a playoff spot within that tough Atlantic Division.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Promoted to parent club Thursday

Gudlevskis was recalled by the Lightning on Thursday.

Gudlevskis was promoted so that Andrei Vasilevskiy, who was demoted to AHL Syracuse in a corresponding move Thursday, can get some additional playing time in the minors. The Lightning have back-to-back games Sunday and Monday, so it's possible Gudlevskis may get the starting nod for one of those contests. He was sharp in his one start for the Lightning this season, stopping 31 of 32 shots in a 1-0 overtime loss to the Blackhawks on Oct. 24.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Relegated to AHL

Gudlevskis was demoted back to the AHL on Sunday, Michelle Gingras of Fox Sports Sun reports.

Gudlevskis was recalled just to allow Andrei Vasilevkiy some added playing time with Ben Bishop entrenched in the Bolts' crease. He served as Bishop's backup in Friday's game against Nashville, but will now head back to an AHL Syracuse club where he's lead the way, but has posted rather unimpressive numbers (2.99 GAA, .901 save percentage). Still, the 23-year-old likely remains the next in line to rejoin the Lightning should another recall be necessary.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Recalled by Lightning

Gudlevksis was recalled by the Lightning on Friday.

Despite having a relatively mediocre season with AHL Syracuse, the Lightning have decided to recall the 23-year-old netminder. While on the outside this seems like good news for him, the team made the move more to give the normal backup (Andrei Vasilevskiy) some added time with the AHL affiliate. With Ben Bishop still ahead of him in the pecking order, expect little to no playing time in the crease for Gudlevskis, barring an injury of some kind.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Assigned to AHL Syracuse

Gudlevskis was assigned to AHL Syracuse on Friday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Gudlevskis did not appear in a game for the Lightning after being recalled Dec. 17. Fellow goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy was recalled from Syracuse to take over as the backup goaltender behind Ben Bishop.

  • Lightning's Kristers Gudlevskis: Recalled Thursday

Gudlevskis was recalled by Tampa Bay on Thursday.

Gudlevskis will be swapping places once again with goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy who was reassigned to AHL Syracuse. The Lightning continue to shuffle their backup goaltenders back and forth, so it is hard to tell when or if Gudlevskis will see any meaningful playing time.
