Hurricanes' Klas Dahlbeck: Headed to KHL
Dahlbeck has decided to sign with a KHL team, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Dahlbeck couldn't bust through to a consistent spot in the lineup for the Hurricanes in 2017-18, dressing for just 33 games that resulted in five points -- one goal and four assists. The terms of his deal in Russia have yet to surface, but it's possible the 26-year-old has played his last game in the NHL.

Dahlbeck finished the 2017-18 campaign with just five points -- one goal and four assists -- and posted a minus-6 rating.
Dahlbeck had one promising season -- 35 points in 2013-14 -- in terms of fantasy production while in the AHL, but he's never produced much offensively since making his way to the top level. The blueliner drew into just 33 games for the Hurricanes this season and enters the offseason set to become a restricted free agent. Even though he's only 26, Dahlbeck remains an unlikely candidate to surface on most fantasy radars next season.

Hurricanes' Klas Dahlbeck: Implodes defensively against Oilers
Dahlbeck was a minus-4 in Tuesday's 7-3 blowout loss to the Oilers, but added three hits, two PIM and a blocked shot in a season-high 19:52 of ice time.
The good news is, with Noah Hanifin currently on the shelf with a concussion, Dahlbeck is finally starting to see regular minutes after spending much of the season as a healthy scratch. However, when you don't score much, you need to be defensively responsible in your own zone, something that was sorely missing from Dahlbeck's game Tuesday. He'll get a chance to redeem himself Thursday against the Coyotes.

Dahlbeck has essentially been the Canes' seventh defenseman for most of this season, subbing occasionally for Haydn Fleury whenever the rookie needs a night off. With just a single assist in only 19 games played, Dahlbeck clearly does not move the needle in even the deepest of fantasy settings.

This was the first point of the season for Dahlbeck, and he's only suited up for 10 of a possible 37 games. He's replaced rookie Hayden Fleury in the lineup in each of the past four contests, though, so perhaps Dahlbeck is beginning to carve out a bigger role. It's definitely best to take a wait-and-see approach with the 26-year-old defenseman in most fantasy formats, though.

Dahlbeck did not play in Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the Canucks, serving as a healthy scratch for the 23rd time in 27 games this season.
Dahlbeck remains the odd man out on the Canes' blue line this season. He played in just 43 games last year after being claimed off waivers in October, but he'll be lucky to see even that much game action this year at the rate he's going. With the acquistion of Trevor van Riemsdyk and the emergence of rookie Haydn Fleury, there is simply no room in the lineup for Dahlbeck right now. As such, he has zero fantasy value and should be avoided in all formats.

Dahlbeck has played in just three games this season after serving as a healthy scratch Saturday against the Coyotes.
Even with Brett Pesce out with a concussion, Dahlbeck still can't seem to find his way into the lineup. Against the Coyotes, the Canes opted to have the 26-year-old Swedish defender watch from the press box yet again, this time in favour of recently recalled rookie Roland McKeown.

Dahlbeck made his season debut and logged 13:18 of ice time during Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets. He was a healthy scratch in the season opener against Minnesota.
With Trevor van Riemsdyk on the shelf with a concussion, Dahlbeck should remain in the lineup for the foreseeable future. The 26-year-old defenseman partnered with rookie Hayden Fleury in Tuesday's game, and head coach Bill Peters will likely lean on his two top pairings while sheltering Dahlbeck and Fleury most nights. Additionally, after registering just 16 points through 58 games last season, it's probably wise not to expect a lot of offensive output from Dahlbeck.

Dahlbeck signed a one-year contract with the Hurricanes on Friday.
Dahlbeck was claimed off waivers by Carolina at the start of the 2016-17 season and apparently enjoyed his time with the team as he re-signed. The defenseman was used sparingly this year, as he logged just 43 contests in which he tallied two goals and four helpers. While his numbers may not stand out, it is possible the 25-year-old gets snatched up during the NHL Expansion Draft in June, as he almost certainly won't be one of the Hurricanes' protected players.

With three points in nine games this season, Dahlbeck is a decent producer when he plays, but that's usually only when one of the Canes' regular blueliners runs into injury trouble. Considering the team is running with a healthy roster of defensemen right now, it could be a while before Dahlbeck sees any game action. He should not be on your fantasy roster at the current time.

Hurricanes' Klas Dahlbeck: Pots goal in loss to Devils
Dahlbeck notched his first goal of the season during Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Devils. He also added three shots on goal and two PIM in 16:48 of ice time.
With stud blueliner Justin Faulk out with an upper-body injury, Dahlbeck came off the bench and scored the go-ahead goal in the dying minutes of the second period, only to see the Devils go on to win the game in a shootout. While it's nice to see him contribute offensively, Dahlbeck remains a depth blueliner for the Hurricanes and likely won't see much game action once Faulk returns to the lineup. He's worth plugging into fantasy rosters in the meantime, though.

Dahlbeck's best quality is probably his experience. The 25-year-old blueliner suited up for 71 games with the Coyotes last season, but only managed to notch eight points (two goals, six assists) over that span. The 2011 third-round pick will round out the Hurricanes' depth at defense nicely, but isn't worth consideration in fantasy.
