  • Brandon Bollig: Officially calls it quits

Bollig has decided to retire from hockey, Chris Kuc of The Athletic reports.

Bollig didn't follow the typical path to the NHL, working his way slowly up the ranks over time. He played parts or all of five seasons at the top level, most notably playing the full season for the club in 2013-14. That season, the enforcer recorded 14 points in addition to his 203 hits and 92 penalty minutes. He finishes his career with 23 points and 392 penalty minutes after spending the final year of his career playing for AHL San Jose and AHL Milwaukee in 2017-18.

  • Predators' Brandon Bollig: Acquired by Nashville

Bolling and Troy Grosenick were traded by the Sharks for Nashville's sixth-round pick in the 2018 draft.

The 31-year-old winger has 10 points in 45 AHL games this season. Bollig will likely get stashed away in AHL Milwaukee, so this trade shouldn't have any real fantasy impact.

  • Sharks' Brandon Bollig: Designated for waivers

Bollig was waived by San Jose on Monday, Rick Ralph of TSN 1290 Winnipeg reports.

A scrappy winger, Bollig scored on his only shot through three games during the preseason, but he also tacked on 14 PIM. The Sharks evidently know that he's little more than an enforcer type.

  • Sharks' Brandon Bollig: Signs one-year deal with San Jose

Bollig signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sharks on Tuesday.

Now 30 years old, Bollig spent last season with AHL Stockton, where he accrued 11 goals and 11 assists over 60 games. However, the way things are shaping up in San Jose, Bollig seems to be a candidate for reasonable time at left wing during the season ahead, as he's behind only Jannik Hansen and Melker Karlsson, barring any future acquisitions by the Sharks.

  • Flames' Brandon Bollig: Placed on waivers

Bollig was waived by the Flames on Monday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.

If unclaimed, Bollig will be reassigned to the minors where he last played during the 2012-13 campaign while with the Rockford IceHogs. With Calgary this past season, the 29-year-old managed a meager four points in 54 contests along with 103 PIM. Even if he gets picked up by another team, the winger offers little in terms of fantasy value and should probably be left off owners' lineups.

  • Flames' Brandon Bollig: Adds assist Sunday

Bollig chipped in an assist in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Ducks.

The gritty winger has been in and out of the lineup this season, with just a goal and two assists in 30 games. He does have 60 PIM to his name, but he'll need to carve out a consistent spot in the lineup to provide much fantasy value.

  • Flames' Brandon Bollig: Scratched for Saturday's game

Bollig was a healthy scratch in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Penguins.

Bollig has had a couple healthy scratches over the last five games, as the Flames are trying to find the lineup that can get them back the success they had last season. Coaches may be a little unhappy with his 35 penalty minutes in 12 games, and it appears he may occasionally be the odd man out in Calgary.

Bollig potted a goal and notched an assist in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Jets.In addition to recording the first two-point game of his career, Bollig ended up finishing with a plus-3 rating on the afternoon. Known more for his fighting than his scoring touch, this might very well be the high water mark for Bollig from a fantasy perspective this season.
