  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Cleared for 2020-21

Prout (upper body) is fully fit ahead of the 2020-21 campaign according to general manager Doug Wilson, Greg Wyshynski of ESPN.com reports.

Prout played in just two games for the Sharks this season, serving primarily as an emergency depth option. As such, the organization could decide not to re-sign Prout this offseason, as he is set to become an unrestricted free agent Oct. 9. The blueliner may need to settle for a two-way contract that allows a team to move him between the NHL and AHL.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Returns from conditioning stint

The Sharks recalled Prout from his conditioning stint in AHL San Jose on Monday, Sharks beat writer Sheng Peng reports.

Prout logged three AHL games, so he could be an option for Tuesday's matchup against the Flyers. He's hasn't played an NHL game since November, and he'll likely work on the bottom pairing if he gets the call.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Conditioning stint on tap

The Sharks sent Prout (upper body) to AHL San Jose on a conditioning assignment Wednesday.

Prout has been sidelined for over three months with an upper-body injury, so he'll likely stick with San Jose's minor-league affiliate for the full two weeks the NHL allows for conditioning assignments. Either way, the 29-year-old blueliner has only picked up two points in 26 games over the past three campaigns, so there's no reason for fantasy owners to keep tabs on his status.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Makes appearance on ice

Prout (upper body) took the ice after the Sharks' morning skate session Monday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Prout last took the ice for a one-game return against Anaheim in mid-November and has appeared in just two games all season. The blueliner's return is likely still a ways off, but his presence on the ice in any capacity is a good sign.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Return not imminent

Prout (upper body) remains without a return timeline, Curtis Pashelka of Bay Area News Group reports.

Pashelka adds that Prout is probably further away than Antti Suomela, who's battling an upper-body injury of his own. It sounds like Prout's absence will extend for another few games at the least.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Shifted to injured reserve

Prout (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.

With Prout moving to IR, the Sharks recalled Noah Gregor from AHL San Jose to take the veteran's roster spot. Prout last played Nov. 14 but suffered an upper-body injury in that contest and is expected to miss some time as a result.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Sidelined again

Prout (upper body) won't play Saturday against the Red Wings and is without a return timeline, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Yet another tough piece of news for Prout, coming off his first game back after missing 18 contests with an upper-body injury. The 29-year-old blueliner appears destined for another lengthy absence, but we'll wait for another update from the Sharks before speculating any further. Even when healthy, Prout's fantasy value is nil; playing his ninth season, he's never finished with more than nine points in a campaign.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Pugnacious in return

Prout accrued seven PIM and added two blocked shots in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Ducks.

Prout was making his first appearance since Opening Night, as he's missed 18 games with an upper-body injury. In the first period, the defenseman dropped the gloves with the Ducks' Nicolas Deslauriers. Prout would later take a hooking minor in the third period that led to Evander Kane's shorthanded tally. Don't expect Prout to generate much scoring -- he's a defensive and physical presence with more on-ice value than fantasy production.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Back from conditioning stint

The Sharks recalled Prout from AHL San Jose on Thursday.

Prout could retake the ice with the Sharks as soon as Thursday versus the Ducks after recording an assist over two games with the Barracuda. Regardless of his status Thursday, Prout hasn't tallied more than nine points over the course of an NHL season, leaving the veteran off the fantasy radar in the majority of formats.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Heads down for conditioning

Prout (upper body) was assigned to AHL San Jose for conditioning purposes.

Prout hasn't played since the season opener due to this upper-body issue. It appears he's ready for game action. Prout is allowed to spend a week in the minors before he has to return to the big club, and he could suit up in three games in that span, including Sunday against AHL San Diego.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Gets in on-ice work

Prout (upper body) was spotted skating at the end of Tuesday's practice, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

The defenseman has been sidelined for the last five games after sustaining an upper-body injury in the Oct. 2 season opener versus Vegas. Jacob Middleton took Prout's spot in the lineup in the Sharks' next game Oct. 4, only to suffer an upper-body injury of his own that will likely sideline him through at least mid-November. Prout will likely need to put in a full practice with the rest of San Jose's healthy skaters before his return to action can be viewed as immiinent.

The Sharks placed Prout (upper body) on injured reserve Friday, David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review Journal reports.

The Sharks have yet to release any details regarding the severity of Prout's upper-body issue, but he'll be sidelined for the team's next four games at a minimum. Jacob Middleton will round out San Jose's depth on the back end until Prout is cleared to play.

  • Sharks' Dalton Prout: Headed to Bay Area

Prout penned a one-year, $800,000 contract with San Jose on Tuesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Prout saw action in just 20 games for the Flames last year, in which he tallied one goal, one assist and 14 shots while averaging a meager 13:07 of ice time. Minutes won't be any easier to come by with the Sharks, so look for the 29-year-old to spend plenty of time in the press box.

  • Flames' Dalton Prout: Scores nifty goal

Prout potted a goal on two shots in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Sharks.

The blueliner hadn't found twine in over three years, since scoring three goals with the Blue Jackets in 2015-16, but you'd never know it by his slick mitts in front of Sharks goalie Aaron Dell. Prout did finish minus-2 in the contest. The goal was just his second point in 17 outings this season, so don't expect a binge of offense to come suddenly for the 29-year-old.

  • Flames' Dalton Prout: Struggling to find minutes

Prout has been a healthy scratch in seven straight contests.

The veteran defenseman has just one assist, along with 31 hits and 14 blocked shots, in 15 appearances this season. Coach Bill Peters has favored Oscar Fantenberg and Rasmus Andersson as the third pairing, and even if a spot opened up, Prout would be competing with fellow press-box dwellers Oliver Kylington and Michael Stone for the position.

  • Flames' Dalton Prout: Physical despite loss

Prout tossed six hits and blocked a shot in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Golden Knights.

After finding himself in the press box for three games, Prout made a physical impact on Wednesday's contest. He now has 31 hits and 14 blocked shots in 15 appearances this season, but with a crowded blue line in Calgary, Prout isn't likely to get many opportunities to suit up.

  • Flames' Dalton Prout: Earns first point this season

Prout assisted on the opening goal in Friday's 2-1 win over the Ducks.

The defensive defenseman has appeared in only four of the Flames' 10 games in February, often serving as a healthy scratch instead. However, with Oliver Kylington listed out for Friday's match, Prout made the most of his opportunity while skating alongside T.J. Brodie on the third pairing. Kylington is expected back Sunday, which likely means Prout will return to the press box.

  • Flames' Dalton Prout: Returns to lineup

Prout logged 8:12 of ice time against the Avs on Wednesday, his first game in the lineup since Dec. 18.

Considering he barely got onto the ice, it shouldn't come as a surprise Prout managed a mere one shot and plus-1 rating. If he can't secure more minutes, the Ontario native could be headed back to AHL Stockton for another conditioning assignment.

  • Flames' Dalton Prout: Back from conditioning stint

Prout has rejoined the Flames following his conditioning assignment with AHL Stockton, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

Prout played in four contests with the Heat, in which he tallied one goal, two assists and eight PIM. The blueliner has appeared in just one game for Calgary this year and will likely head back up to the press box.

  • Flames' Dalton Prout: Headed out on assignment

Prout was sent to AHL Stockton for a conditioning assignment Tuesday.

Prout hasn't played since Oct. 6 against Vancouver, a stretch of 19 games in the press box. Unfortunately for the blueliner, the emergence of Juuso Valimaki and Rasmus Andersson likely means he will be back observing from the sidelines following his stint in the minors.
