  • Jets' Haason Reddick: Underperforms with Jets

Reddick tallied 14 total tackles (nine solo), including 1.0 sacks, defended one pass and forced one fumble over 10 games in 2024. Reddick's first season in New York didn't go according to plan, as he was traded from the Eagles to the Jets in late March due to a contract dispute. He then held out of the Jets' training camp and the first seven games of the season while negotiating an extension with his new team. The Temple product underwhelmed upon his return in 2024, recording the fewest tackles and tying the lowest sack total of his career. Now set to hit unrestricted free agency this summer, Reddick likely cost himself significant earnings by holding out and underperforming in 2024. He will aim to return to his usual form as one of the NFL's top edge rushers in 2025, whether he remains with the Jets or signs elsewhere.

  • Jets' C.J. Mosley: Injuries derail 2024 campaign

Mosley (neck) recorded 17 total tackles (13 solo) over four games in 2024. Mosley sustained a toe injury in the Jets' Week 1 loss to the 49ers that sidelined him for three of the team's next six games. He was limited in the games he did play as well, logging just 43 defensive snaps across those three contests. The veteran linebacker then suffered a neck injury during pregame warmups before the Week 8 matchup against the Patriots, which led to him being sidelined for the remainder of the season. Mosley remains under contract through the 2025 season, so he's expected to stay with the Jets. The 32-year-old has averaged 156 total tackles in his last three full NFL seasons and is projected to serve as one of the Jets' top inside linebackers next year once he's recovers from his neck injury.

  • Jets' Michael Carter: Misses four games in 2024

Carter recorded 24 total tackles (20 solo) and one pass defended over 13 games in 2024. Carter nursed a back injury for most of the regular season, which sidelined him for four games. Additionally, Carter played 384 fewer defensive snaps (647 snaps in 2023 compared to 263 in 2024) and made five fewer starts (six starts in 2023 to one in 2024), contributing to an immense decline in tackles (26 fewer) and passes defended (eight fewer) in 2024. The Duke product inked a three-year, $30.75 million extension with the Jets in September of 2024 and is under contract through the 2027 season. He's expected to remain one of the Jets' top slot defenders in 2025.

  • Jets' Solomon Thomas: Productive in 2024

Thomas tallied 26 total tackles (15 solo), including 3.5 sacks, two passes defended and one forced fumble over 16 games in 2024. Despite starting just one game in 2024, Thomas was relatively productive, playing 430 defensive snaps and ranking fifth on the Jets' defense in tackles for loss (five) and sacks. While his tackle (31 to 26) and sack (5.0 to 3.5) totals declined from his 2023 campaign, he played 36 fewer defensive snaps this season and recorded more passes defended (two to one) and forced fumbles (one to zero) than in 2023. Thomas is now set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer after signing a one-year, $2.35 million deal with the Jets last offseason. If he remains with New York in 2025, he's likely to serve as one of the team's top reserve defensive linemen.

  • Jets' Will McDonald: Breaks out in second season

McDonald posted 28 total tackles (18 solo), including 10.5 sacks, three passes defended and two forced fumbles across 17 games in 2024. The 2023 first-round pick from Iowa State made a tremendous leap in production from his rookie season to 2024, tying Jonathon Cooper, Dante Fowler and Travon Walker for the 12th-most sacks in the NFL. McDonald also ranked among the NFL's top 15 edge rushers in quarterback hits (12), pressures (61) and batted passes (three) this season. He's now entering the third season of his rookie contract and is expected to remain one of the premier edge rushers in the league, with aspirations of earning his first Pro Bowl or All-Pro honors in 2025.

  • Jets' Micheal Clemons: Career year in 2024

Clemons tallied 34 total tackles, including 4.5 sacks, and one forced fumble over 17 games in 2024. The third-year pro from Texas A&M started all 17 of the Jets' games this season and set a new career high in sacks, solidifying himself as one of New York's best edge rushers. Clemons began to see less defensive work once Haason Reddick returned from his contract dispute in Week 8, but he still logged a career-high 581 defensive snaps played this season. Heading into the final season of his rookie deal in 2025, Clemons has accumulated 97 total tackles, including 7.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles across 49 games with the Jets over the past three years.

  • Jets' Ashtyn Davis: Disappoints in 2024

Davis recorded 35 total tackles and two interceptions over 15 games in 2024. The 28-year-old safety from California tallied fewer tackles (37 to 35), passes defended (eight to two), interceptions (three to two) and forced fumbles (one to zero) this season compared to his output in 2023, despite playing 35 more defensive snaps. However, Davis was productive in his lone start this season, recording nine total tackles and two interceptions in the Jets' Week 18 win over the Dolphins. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer after signing a one-year, $2.7 million deal with the Jets last offseason.

  • Jets' Brandin Echols: Has promising 2024 campaign

Echols logged 40 tackles (29 solo), three pass defenses (including two interceptions) and a recovered fumble over 16 games (four starts) during the regular season. Echols' role fluctuated significantly throughout the campaign -- for example, he logged over 90 percent of New York's defensive snaps in four games but played exclusively on special teams in four other contests. Nonetheless, he co-led New York with two pickoffs, marking the second time in four career campaigns he's notched multiple interceptions. Echols will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and if he returns to the Jets he has an opportunity to move into a starting role, as fellow cornerback D.J. Reed is unlikely to come back.

  • Jets' Javon Kinlaw: Posts best numbers of career

Kinlaw recorded 40 tackles (27 solo), including 4.5 sacks, along with two forced fumbles and a recovered fumble in 17 games (all starts) during the 2024 regular season. Kinlaw played in all 17 regular-season contests for the second straight season, but unlike in 2023 with San Francisco when he started just six games, he was in the starting unit every week for the Jets this year. The 2020 first-round draft pick thus notched career-high marks with 645 defensive snaps, 40 stops and 4.5 sacks. Kinlaw is set to become an unrestricted free agent upon the beginning of the offseason.

  • Jets' Isaiah Oliver: Plays in all 17 games in 2024

Oliver totaled 57 tackles (42 solo), including 1.0 sacks, along with three pass defenses over 17 contests (seven starts) during the regular season. Oliver's role and defensive snap share fluctuated in his first season with the Jets, but he stayed healthy and was active for all 17 of the team's games. The veteran defensive back logged 10 fewer tackles than in his prior season (which he spent with San Francisco) but increased his defensed-pass total by one. Oliver will be an unrestricted free agent upon the beginning of the offseason.

  • Jets' D.J. Reed: Logs 11 pass defenses in 2024

Reed finished the regular season with 64 tackles (52 solo), including 1.0 sacks, along with 11 pass defenses over 14 games (all starts). Reed had three one-week injury absences during the campaign but otherwise was a reliable part of New York's secondary, starting all 14 games in which he played. The veteran cornerback paced the Jets with 11 pass defenses, which was his second-highest total over his seven-year career. Reed has reached the end of the three-year contract he signed with New York in 2022, and he indicated in late December that he's ready to test the free-agency waters, per Al Iannazzone of Newsday.

  • Jets' Tony Adams: Logs career-high tackle total

Adams registered 84 tackles (42 solo), including 1.0 sacks, along with six pass defenses (one of which was an interception) over 15 games (11 starts) during the 2024 campaign. Despite recording 143 fewer defense snaps than in 2023, Adams increased his tackle total by two. He also had one more pass defense than in the previous campaign, though he finished with two fewer interceptions. Adams was somewhat surprisingly taken out of the starting lineup Weeks 11-14, though he returned to the starting unit for New York's final three games after Jalen Mills was placed on IR due to a collarbone injury. Adams will be a restricted free agent upon the start of the offseason, and given his late-season demotion, it's uncertain if he'll be back with the club for another campaign.

  • Jets' Quincy Williams: Fourth straight 100-tackle season

Williams finished the 2024 season with 2.0 sacks among his 116 tackles (74 solo), as well as four passes defensed, four forced fumbles and three fumbles recovered. Williams posted a fourth consecutive season with at least 106 tackles and continued his strong play despite the Jets' defense taking a step back as a unit. The 28-year-old linebacker will carry a cap hit of $8.425 million in 2025 as he wraps up a three-year, $18 million contract.

  • Jets' Jamien Sherwood: Breaks out ahead of free agency

Sherwood finished the 2024 season with 2.0 sacks among his 158 tackles (98 solo), as well as three passes defensed. After playing primarily as a backup for three years, Sherwood stepped up in his fourth NFL campaign as fellow middle linebacker C.J. Mosley (neck) was limited to only four appearances. Sherwood led the NFL in solo tackles, enjoying a well-timed breakout as the 2021 fifth-round draft pick gets ready to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. Given Mosley's advanced age and injury troubles, the Jets will likely be interested in re-signing Sherwood.

  • Jets' Quinnen Williams: Aggravates hamstring in Week 18

Williams suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's 32-20 win over the Dolphins. Williams has been dealing with a hamstring injury for weeks but was able to suit up through a questionable tag for the Week 18 finale despite not practicing at all during the week. Prior to leaving against Miami, Williams merely recorded one QB hit. He finishes the 2024 campaign with 37 tackles (25 solo), including 6.0 sacks, and 18 QB hits across 16 appearances. It was a bit of a down year for the 27-year-old in what proved to be a disappointing season for the Jets as a whole. Williams has three years left on a four-year, $96-million extension and is signed through 2027.

  • Jets' Quinnen Williams: Will play against Miami

Williams (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Williams was unable to practice all week due to a hamstring injury, but he feels good enough to play in Sunday's regular-season finale. The 2019 first-round pick will look to register his first sack since Week 11 against the Colts.

  • Jets' Sauce Gardner: Placed on injured reserve

The Jets placed Gardner (hamstring) on injured reserve Saturday. Gardner was already ruled out for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Dolphins due to a hamstring injury. His placement on IR opens up a spot on the Jets' 53-man roster for Bruce Hector. Gardner will end the 2024 regular season with 49 tackles (36 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and nine pass defenses (including one interception) across 15 games.

  • Jets' Quinnen Williams: Questionable for Week 18

Williams (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. Williams logged a trio of DNPs in practice this week and has been battling the hamstring issue for a few weeks. He was inactive for Week 16 but returned last Sunday against the Bills, playing a reduced role. With the Jets' season all but over, it's fair to wonder if the team will opt to simply sit Williams for the meaningless finale. Williams has 37 tackles (25 solo), including eight TFLs and 6.0 sacks, and 17 QB hits across 15 games this season.

  • Jets' Sauce Gardner: Ruled out for season finale

Gardner (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. D.J. Reed, Brandin Echols and Isaiah Oliver should see the bulk of the snaps at cornerback for the Jets in the Week 18 finale. Gardner has been dealing with the hamstring injury for weeks and was in and out of the game in Weeks 16 and 17. The No. 4 overall pick of the 2022 Draft, Gardner wraps up a disappointing third season with 49 tackles (36 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and nine pass breakups, including one interception.

  • Jets' Sauce Gardner: Begins Week 18 prep with DNP

Gardner (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice estimation, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Gardner first hurt his hamstring Week 16 versus the Rams. He was able to suit up this past Sunday versus Buffalo but departed early in the third quarter after aggravating the issue and was unable to return. Considering the nature of hamstring injuries, Gardner is at risk of missing Sunday's season finale against the Dolphins. Brandin Echols would likely step in and start if Gardner can't suit up.
