Player Outlook
The Cowboys DST should be considered among the best Fantasy options this season and is worth drafting with a late-round pick in all leagues. In 2022, the Dallas defense was among the leaders in points allowed (19.1), sacks (54), fumbles (17), interceptions (16) and DST touchdowns (three). Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence are a formidable pass rush, and the addition of Stephon Gilmore opposite Trevon Diggs at corner gives Dallas a tough secondary. The Cowboys DST could be the best Fantasy unit this season, so plan to target the Cowboys DST in all leagues on Draft Day.

  • Cowboys' Trevon Diggs: MRI confirms ACL tear

Diggs was confirmed to have suffered a season-ending torn ACL after undergoing an MRI on his left knee following his early exit from practice Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. The fourth-year cornerback had played a vital role in the Dallas defense's spectacular start to the season, forcing two turnovers while breaking up three passes through the first two contests. However, after going down with the knee injury during Thursday's practice and suffering from ligament damage, Diggs will soon undergo season-ending surgery. Jane Slater of NFL Network relays that the Cowboys plan to cover for Diggs' absence by moving DaRon Bland to the boundary corner spot opposite Stephon Gilmore, while Jourdan Lewis likely takes over as Dallas' slot corner.

  • Cowboys' Trevon Diggs: Torn ACL feared

The Cowboys fear that Diggs suffered a torn ACL after he exited Thursday's practice with a knee injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Diggs sustained the injury in a 1-on-1 drill during the early portion of practice and was spotted moving about with crutches as he exited the Cowboys' team facility. He's expected to undergo an MRI later Thursday or early Friday, and if his medical tests confirm the team's worst fears, he'll be lost for the season. Even if the MRI yields more favorable news, Diggs still seems likely to miss this Sunday's game at Arizona, at a minimum. For however long Diggs is sidelined, DaRon Bland and Jourdan Lewis should be primed to step into larger roles in the Dallas secondary.

  • Cowboys' Trevon Diggs: Exits practice with knee injury

Diggs suffered a knee injury during Thursday's practice and is set to undergo an MRI, David Moore of The Dallas Morning News reports. Per Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News, Diggs' injury occurred during the 1-on-1 period early on during Thursday's session. The fourth-year cornerback has gotten off to a solid start to the 2023 campaign, recording four tackles, breaking up three passes and forcing two turnovers (an interception and a forced fumble) through Dallas' first two games.

  • Cowboys' Donovan Wilson: Should play Week 3

Wilson (calf) is expected to be limited in practice Wednesday and practicing in full Thursday in anticipation of suiting up Sunday against the Cardinals, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Wilson has missed each of Dallas' first two games this season, but his return appears to be on the horizon. The veteran safety's return would certainly be a boost to an already strong defense that has only allowed 10 points on the 2023 campaign thus far.

  • Cowboys' Micah Parsons: Two more sacks Sunday

Parsons recorded four solo tackles, including two sacks, and recovered a fumble in Sunday's win over the Jets. • Cowboys' Donovan Wilson: Status for Week 2 in question

Wilson (calf) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. • Cowboys' Stephon Gilmore: Secures pick in Dallas debut

Gilmore recorded four tackles and three passes defended, including an interception, in Sunday's 40-0 rout of the Giants. The Cowboys' defense dominated the game, and Gilmore made an impact in his debut for the club by plucking an errant Daniel Jones throw early in the second quarter. The veteran cornerback hasn't pulled down more than two INTs in a season since 2019, but with an aggressive, star-studded Dallas defense giving QBs little time and few opportunities to make optimal choices, Gilmore could see a lot more chances to create turnovers than he's been used to.
