More line injuries: With Logan Mankins and Brian Waters not practicing, Robert Gallery retired, Nick McDonald and Derek Dennis not yet allowed to practice in pads because of the collective bargaining agreement, the Patriots were already thin on the interior offensive line. Add tackle to the list when Kyle Hix (left arm) and Darrion Weems (undisclosed) left practice on Sunday and did not return.
Double duty is not good: The injuries forced LT Nate Solder, RT Marcus Cannon and LG Donald Thomas to play double the amount of snaps. If that continues, those players are going to be more susceptible to fatigue injuries.
What a catch: Undrafted RB Brandon Bolden made a spectacular leaping, back-shoulder grab some 18 yards down the field near the left sideline. He had yet to display that kind of receiving ability.
Koppen comeback: C Dan Koppen ended his nine-snap losing streak in one-on-ones with a win over Kyle Love (who got poked in the eye at the end) and a draw with Marcus Forston.
Picking it off: CB Ras-I Dowling had his first interception of camp. It was more of a late throw by Brian Hoyer than a great defensive play.
Rising rookie: Sixth-round DB Nate Ebner, in just his second practice, was inserted into the top kickoff return unit and second team at safety. Patriots need to know what they have in the former rugby standout.
