Bengals first-round pick Dre Kirkpatrick suffered a leg injury and could miss much of training camp, according to Jason LaCanfora of On top of drafting Kirkpatrick No. 17 overall, the Bengals added CBs Terence Newman and Jason Allen this offseason hoping to offset the possible recovery time of CB Leon Hall (Achilles). All signs point toward Hall participating in the majority of training camp and the Bengals will need him if Kirkpatrick misses extended time. 

The major loss will be time for Kirkpatrick to learn under the Bengals' collection of veteran corners in the teaching environment of training camp. Kirkpatrick needed reps as a press corner, a philosophy not often used at Alabama but heavily utilized by defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.  

These veterans remain to fill out the position, along with a collection of rookies: Hall (6 years), Newman (10), Allen (7), Nate Clements (12), Adam Jones (6) and Brandon Ghee (3). Cincinnati isn't necessarily in trouble at the position with four of the above-mentioned players being former first-round picks. Injuries are to be expected from a group the features Hall recovering, Clements missed OTAs with an abdominal strain, Jones missed the majority of last season with multiple ailments and Newman will be 34 on opening day.
