Pacers' T.J. McConnell: Excels in limited minutes in debut
McConnell (hamstring) tallied 12 points (6-12 FG, 0-2 3Pt), one rebound and one assist across 11 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's 152-128 loss to the Jazz.
Cleared to make his season debut after missing Indiana's first 10 games while recovering from the left hamstring strain he sustained during the preseason, McConnell was limited to two shifts off the bench in the first and second quarters before sitting out the entire second half. The Jazz had built up a 20-point advantage by the middle of the third quarter, which may have been a factor in head coach Rick Carlisle's decision to hold McConnell out for the remainder of the night. The veteran point guard has historically been a strong per-minute source of steals and assists, but he uncharacteristically made his biggest impact as a scorer during his time on the court Tuesday. McConnell should see his playing time pick up a bit in his next few appearances, but even with Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) out for the season, McConnell may not be in line for a regular 20-plus-minute role while the Pacers have installed Andrew Nembhard as their full-time starting point guard for 2025-26.

Pacers' T.J. McConnell: Available to make season debut
McConnell (hamstring) is available for Tuesday's game against the Jazz.
After missing Indiana's first 10 regular-season games due to a strained left hamstring he sustained during the preseason, McConnell will make his season debut against Utah. While the Pacers haven't confirmed whether the veteran point guard will operate under a specific minutes restriction, head coach Rick Carlisle said the team will monitor his playing time, according to Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star.

Pacers' T.J. McConnell: Questionable for Tuesday
McConnell (hamstring) is questionable for Tuesday's game in Utah, Jeremiah Johnson of FanDuel Sports Network Indiana reports.
Pacers' head coach Rick Carlisle said Sunday that McConnell was ramping up his workload and nearing his regular-season debut. Tuesday will mark the first time he has received a questionable tag since going down with the hamstring injury in the preseason. McConnell will likely have a minutes restrictions over his first handful of games, but once he's fully up to speed, he is expected to see a sizable role on this Indiana team that is desperate for a playmaker.

Pacers' T.J. McConnell: Nearing season debut
Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said Sunday that McConnell (hamstring) is "getting closer" to making his season debut, Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star reports. "He's been ramping up pretty steadily," Carlisle said of McConnell, who is recovering from a left hamstring strain.
Though Carlisle didn't offer up a target date for when McConnell might be able to play, the veteran point guard could be day-to-day rather than week-to-week at this stage of his rehab process. With Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) out for the season, McConnell will likely slide into the rotation as the primary backup to starting point guard Andrew Nembhard once he's deemed ready for game action.

Pacers' T.J. McConnell: Expected to miss one month
McConnell (hamstring) is expected to miss at least one month of action, Tony East of WTHR Channel 13 Indianapolis reports.
This is a massive blow for Indiana, as they are already short on ball-handlers with Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) out for the season. With McConnell expected to miss at least a month, his earliest possible return would be on Nov. 11 against the Jazz. The Pacers signed Cameron Payne to a training camp contract Thursday after waiving Delon Wright, and Andrew Nembhard is now likely to see even more ball-handling reps to open the season.

Pacers' T.J. McConnell: Won't return Tuesday
McConnell (hamstring) will not return to Tuesday's preseason game against the Timberwolves, Jeremiah Johnson of FanDuel Sports Network Indiana reports.
McConnell went down with the hamstring injury in the second quarter against Minnesota. The veteran guard logged only eight minutes Tuesday, finishing with seven points, two rebounds, three assists and one steal. The next chance for him to return to the floor will be Saturday against the Thunder.

Pacers' T.J. McConnell: Exits to locker room Tuesday
McConnell exited to the locker room after sustaining an apparent left thigh injury in the second quarter of Tuesday's preseason game against the Timberwolves, Tony East of WTHR Channel 13 Indianapolis reports.
McConnell reached for his upper thigh and motioned to the bench before committing a foul with 4:41 remaining in the second quarter. In the likely event the veteran point guard doesn't return to the preseason opener, Quenton Jackson, RayJ Dennis and Delon Wright are candidates for a bump in minutes the rest of the way.

Pacers' T.J. McConnell: Shines in Game 7 loss
McConnell registered 16 points (8-13 FG), six rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal over 28 minutes during Sunday's 103-91 loss to the Thunder in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
McConnell was arguably one of Indiana's best players in the NBA Finals after playing a modest role in the regular season -- he averaged 17.9 minutes per night across 79 regular-season contests with 9.1 points, 4.4 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals on 51.9 percent shooting from the field. McConnell, who has four years and $44.8 million left on his contract, is set to take on a larger role in 2025-26 due to Tyrese Haliburton being sidelined by an Achilles tear he suffered during Game 7.
