While everyone dreams of making spectacular fast break plays in the NBA to truly show out, the caution one must take in performing any transition scoring attempt is serious. Unless you're truly by yourself without any other defender around, you're always in danger of being chased down by an equally athletic freak of a human being and having your moment ruined.
That's what happened to Sergey Karasev of the Brooklyn Nets in Wednesday's 100-86 win for the Boston Celtics. Karasev picked up the loose ball and quickly took it the other way. He used the classic Euro-step move to avoid Avery Bradley picking his pocket or making a stop and went up for the layup. Bradley's hustle bought just enough time for Jeff Green to track it down.
Green came flying down the court and the footsteps in Karasev's ears must have been deafening. The Celtics' forward flew through the air and emphatically swatted the layup attempt to the Celtics' bench. Green only played in nine minutes, scoring six points, but this block was a fun highlight for the contest.
