The Orlando Magic have agreed to a three-year, $15 million deal with C.J. Watson, according to Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears. Watson spent the last two seasons with the Indiana Pacers.
This move will probably fly under the radar, but it's an important one for Orlando. Watson has long been a solid third guard, and he made 40 percent of his 3-pointers this past year. The Magic are desperate for shooting, so he'll fit perfectly. He should back up starting point guard Elfrid Payton, but he is capable of playing alongside him as well. In this market, $5 million per season is rather cheap for a player like Watson.
On Friday, Orlando also agreed to a reported four-year, $64 million deal with forward Tobias Harris. Kyle O'Quinn is still a free agent, but most of the team's offseason work is probably done. The additions of Watson and rookie Mario Hezonja should help new head coach Scott Skiles fix the Magic's offense.
Watson averaged 10 points, 3.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 24.9 minutes per game for the Pacers in 2014-15, with a true shooting percentage of 58.1 percent.
