Tayshaun Prince will be heading back to where he started his career -- Detroit. The Celtics shipped Prince to the Pistons in exchange for Jonas Jerebko and Luigi Datome just moments before the trade deadline buzzer at 3 p.m. ET. The Pistons announced the deal Thursday night.

"Tayshaun Prince is certainly well known to fans in Detroit and we're pleased to welcome him back," said coach Stan Van Gundy. "He fills a position of need for us at small forward with his offensive and defensive versatility. We thank both Jonas and Gigi for their hard work and wish them well going forward."

The Pistons took Prince with the No. 23 overall pick in 2002 draft. The 34-year-old veteran spent 11 seasons with Detroit where he averaged 12.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He spent two-plus seasons with the Grizzlies before he was shipped to Boston in a trade in January. Prince is is averaging 7.6 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 44.6 percent from the field this season
