  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Homers again in Sunday's loss

Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Torkelson got the Tigers on the board with a solo blast to center off Jordan Montgomery in the third inning and later scored once more after reaching on a fielder's choice. After not homering in his first 37 games of the season, Torkelson now has three home runs in his last seven games and seems to finally be heating up after a slow start to the year. The 24-year-old also has at least a hit in 12 of 13 games dating back to May 5 and is now slashing .227/.291/.360 with 17 RBI, 21 runs and a 13:43 BB:K in 189 plate appearances.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Goes deep again Monday

Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-5 win over the Marlins.

After going the first 37 games of the season without launching any home runs, Torkelson has now blasted off in consecutive contests. Both home runs were two-run shots, and the 24-year-old could certainly keep it going, as he's shown the ability to hit long balls in bunches. Torkelson recorded a career-best 31 home runs last year, to go along with 94 RBI.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Launches first homer of 2024

Torkelson finally broke through for his first home run of the 2024 season, launching a two-run shot off of Houston reliever Seth Martinez with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. After producing 31 home runs over 159 games in 2023, it took the first baseman 38 contests to go deep in 2024. Torkelson is now batting .224 with a home run, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored over those 38 games.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Drives in two Friday

Torkelson went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and two RBI in Friday's 8-2 win over the Twins.

Torkelson is now riding a modest three-game hitting streak, and during that time he's posted a .955 OPS and driven in three. The power still hasn't shown up for the 24-year-old, as he has no home runs through 12 contests after going deep 31 times last season. However, Torkelson has shown in the past that he can launch long balls in bunches, so fantasy managers should remain patient.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Doubles, scores twice in win

Torkelson went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 5-4 win over the A's.

Torkelson has been struggling a bit, as he came into Friday's game batting just .185, but he managed to push that up to .226 with the two hits. The first baseman batted .203 and .233 in his first two MLB seasons, so his average may not climb much higher, but fantasy managers are expecting him to get going in the power department after he launched 31 home runs in 2023.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Struggling to get going

Torkelson went 0-for-4 in Monday's 5-0 win over the Mets.

The season has just got started, so Torkelson's early struggles should be taken with a grain of salt. However, it is hard to ignore his 3-for-17 start to the year, a dreary line that's carried over from spring training. On a positive note, the 24-year-old has been making consistent contact, striking out just three times thus far. Torkelson went down on strikes 171 times in 684 plate appearances last year, and he should be able to build on a strong 2023 if he can dramatically lower that number while maintaining his power.
