Wendzel will be in line to make his major-league debut in the near future, replacing Justin Foscue (oblique) on the Rangers' roster after Foscue was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday. Wendzel has appeared in nine games so far this season in Triple-A, batting .314 with six extra-base hits, including three homers, while driving in eight runs over 35 at-bats. The Rangers opened an opportunity for several infielders after they traded Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the Twins for catcher Mitch Garver. Kiner-Falefa was the presumptive starter at third base, but now Texas is looking at a few potential replacements, including the possibility of Wendzel getting at-bats there in 2022. The 25-year-old infielder batted .238/.346/.399 over a combined 263 plate appearances at Double-A Frisco, Triple-A Round Rock and a rookie-level affiliate while rehabbing a wrist injury.

Wendzel has been on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Frisco since July 18 with a left wrist sprain. Now that he's playing in games again, Wendzel shouldn't be much more than a week or two away from rejoining the Double-A lineup.
