  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: To open as No. 2 starter

Kremer is set to open the season as the No. 2 starter for the Orioles, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Kyle Gibson will handle the Opening Day assignment Thursday at Boston, and then it'll be Kremer's turn to tangle with the Red Sox on April 1. The 27-year-old posted an impressive 3.23 ERA across 125.1 innings for Baltimore in 2022, though he tallied only 87 strikeouts along the way. Lacking in swing-and-miss stuff, Kremer's fantasy upside is limited.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Goes four innings Friday

Kremer allowed two runs on three hits and struck out three over four innings in Friday's Grapefruit League win over the Twins. Kremer allowed back-to-back solo home runs in the second inning. The right-hander made one appearance for Israel at the World Baseball Classic, a scoreless four-inning start. He appears to be in good form as spring training ramps up into competition for roster spots on Opening Day. Kremer should have an inside track to a place in the middle of the rotation after posting a solid 3.23 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 87:34 K:BB over 125.1 innings a year ago.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Will pitch once before WBC

Kremer will get into one of the Orioles' early Grapefruit League games before he goes to pitch for Israel at the World Baseball Classic, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports. Kremer is in the mix for a spot in the middle of the Orioles' rotation, but he'll be out of camp for at least part of the spring. Manager Brandon Hyde will get at least one look at the right-hander before he leaves for international play. Kremer started 21 of his 22 appearances last season and looked solid with a 3.23 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 87:34 K:BB across 125.1 innings, and he finished the year strong, so he should have an inside edge for a starting role in 2023.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Inefficient through five innings

Kremer (8-6) took the loss against Boston on Wednesday, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks with two strikeouts over five innings. Kremer was not at his best Wednesday, as he needed 95 pitches to get through five innings. He was all over the place, as he threw only 53 strikes and allowed four free passes, the second time he has surpassed that mark in his last three starts after allowing no more than three in any other start this season. Despite the inefficiency on the night, he still owns a solid 3.17 ERA and will try to get back on track in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next week against Toronto.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Shuts out Astros

Kremer (8-5) allowed four hits and two walks during a complete game shutout against Houston on Friday. He earned a win and struck out six. Kremer never found himself in much danger during Friday's dominant outing. He tossed 700 of 106 pitches for strikes and forced 16 whiffs. The 26-year-old righty produced his first career complete game and lowered his season ERA to an impressive 3.07 over 114.1 frames. Kremer has given up three or fewer runs in eight straight outings, posting a 2.29 ERA over 51 frames during that stretch. He's lined up to take the mound in Boston next week.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Navigates lack of control Sunday

Kremer allowed two runs on four hits, five walks and a hit batsman while striking out three in 5.2 innings in a 5-4 win Sunday in Toronto. He did not factor into the decision. Kremer managed to give up just two runs despite allowing 10 of the 25 batters he faced to reach safely. A line-drive triple play in the third inning ended one threat, as did some timely groundouts. After walking 11.3 percent of batters in his first two big-league seasons, the 26-year-old had demonstrated excellent control over his first 99.2 innings this year, walking only 5.4 percent of opponents. Sunday's five walks were his most of the season and just the second time he walked more than two in an outing. His next start will likely be next weekend against Houston.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Five innings in win

Kremer (7-5) earned the win Tuesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk over five innings against the Nationals. He struck out one. Kremer picked up his seventh win despite allowing eight hits and recording just one punchout through five innings. The 26-year-old has been the recipient of favorable run support recently as he has just four quality starts in his last eight starts since the beginning of August, but he is 4-2 in that stretch. His 4.15 xFIP and 4.44 xERA entering Tuesday both suggest that he is overperforming with a 3.34 ERA. He tentatively lines up to face Detroit next week.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Takes loss as bulk reliever

Kremer (6-5) was tagged with the loss against Toronto on Wednesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 5.1 innings. Tyler Wells (oblique) was activated from the injured list to start the contest, but he went only two frames. Kremer took over in the third inning and pitched relatively well outside of the fifth, when he allowed the three runs that ended up being the margin of defeat. Kremer didn't allow any extra-base hits, however, and he threw an efficient 70 of 92 pitches for strikes. It's unclear how he and Wells will be used moving forward, though Kremer's recent run of strong appearances -- he has a 2.30 ERA over his past five outings -- suggests that he'll continue to play a prominent role in Baltimore's pitching plans.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Likely available as bulk reliever

Kremer is expected to be available out of the bullpen behind opener Tyler Wells during Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Wells will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to serve as Wednesday's starter, but he's expected to operate in an opener's role to begin the game. As a result, Kremer should have a chance to handle a relatively sizable workload as a reliever during Wednesday's series finale against Toronto.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: No longer starting Wednesday

Kremer is no longer starting Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports. Kremer was initially listed as Wednesday's probable pitcher, but the team will ultimately reinstate Tyler Wells (oblique) from the injured list to start against Toronto. It's not yet clear whether Kremer is dealing with an injury or whether he'll be available to serve as a bulk reliever Wednesday. If he's healthy and doesn't pitch Wednesday, it's possible that he'll draw a start during Baltimore's weekend series against the Red Sox.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Strikes out six batters

Kremer did not factor into the decision against the Athletics on Friday, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six and walking one over six innings. Kremer pitched well Friday, limiting six Oakland baserunners to just two runs and tossing 63 of 94 pitches for strikes across six frames. The righty has pitched well lately, with Friday's outing being his fourth quality start in his last six games. Kremer has gone 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA during that span, pitching in Fenway and against tough offenses in Toronto and Houston. He will take a 3.22 ERA into his next outing and could be worth an add in most fantasy formats.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Stays dialed in versus Houston

Kremer (6-4) earned the win Saturday over the Astros, allowing one run on four hits while striking out three over 7.2 innings. Kremer delivered his longest start of the year and avoided issuing a free pass for just the third time in 15 outings. The Astros cobbled together a run in the seventh inning, but Kremer got Alex Bregman to ground into a double play to limit the damage in that frame. Aside from a hiccup in Boston on Aug. 11, Kremer's enjoyed a strong August. He's allowed eight runs across 32 innings for a 2.25 ERA through five starts this month. For the season, he has a 3.24 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 62:18 K:BB through 83.1 innings overall. He'll look to keep rolling in September with a favorable projected home start versus the Athletics next on the docket.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Takes no-decision Sunday

Kremer allowed a run on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings, taking a no-decision versus the Red Sox on Sunday. The only run against Kremer was on an Enrique Hernandez RBI single in the second inning. The Orioles' bullpen couldn't keep the lead, denying Kremer the chance to pick up wins in consecutive starts for the first time this year. He's still been fairly sharp lately, allowing seven runs in his last 24.1 innings. For the season, he owns a 3.45 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 59:18 K:BB through 75.2 innings across a career-high 14 starts. The 26-year-old righty is projected for a tough road start in Houston next weekend.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Falters in fourth loss

Kremer (4-4) took the loss against Boston on Thursday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six batters over 5.2 innings. Kremer picked up a win with 6.1 scoreless innings against Pittsburgh in his previous start, but he couldn't build on that momentum Thursday. The right-hander fell behind 3-0 after three innings before Baltimore tied the score in the sixth. However, Kremer couldn't capitalize on the comeback effort, as a two-out walk in the bottom of the frame resulted in his removal from the contest, which was followed by a run-scoring double off the bat of Eric Hosmer. Kremer has lost three of his past four starts and has given up a combined 14 runs over 15.1 innings in the trio of defeats.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Wednesday's start postponed

Kremer won't start as scheduled Wednesday against the Blue Jays since the game was postponed due to inclement weather. A two-hour rain delay preceded the postponement, and the game will be made up in early September. It's unclear how the Orioles plan to adjust their rotation, but Kremer could start Thursday in Boston with every other pitcher being pushed back a day.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Shuts down Bucs for fourth win

Kremer (4-3) picked up the win Friday, scattering four hits over 6.1 scoreless innings in a 1-0 victory over the Pirates. He struck out two without walking a batter. It was a somewhat unlikely pitchers' duel between Kremer and Mitch Keller on the night, but the Baltimore righty came out on top. Kremer tossed 61 of 83 pitches for strikes as he recorded his third quality start in 11 outings this season, but it's actually the fifth time he's shut out the opposition during his time on the mound. He has a 3.43 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 43:14 K:BB through 57.2 innings.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Pummeled for six runs

Kremer (3-3) gave up six earned runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out three over 4.1 innings to take the loss in an 8-2 defeat to the Reds on Saturday. Kremer had difficulty missing the Reds' bats, giving up eight hard-hit balls with an exit velocity of over 95 mph. Two of them left the yard for home runs. It has been a rough stretch for Kremer, who pitched to a 1.29 ERA in June. His ERA has now risen to 3.86 after struggling in four of his five starts in July. Kremer is tentatively expected to take his next turn in the rotation next week in a favorable matchup versus the Pirates.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Allows four runs in loss

Kremer (3-2) took the loss against the Yankees on Sunday, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out six and walking one over 5.1 innings. After finishing June with a 1.29 ERA, Kremer has not seen the same success in July. After allowing four runs to the Yankees, the righty now has 12 earned runs in 19 innings this month, giving him a 5.68 July ERA. Despite Sunday's rough outing where he threw 55 of 83 pitches for strikes, Kremer still sports a modest 3.06 ERA for the season.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Goes only four innings Saturday

Kremer did not factor in the decision against Tampa Bay on Saturday, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out two batters over four innings. Kremer didn't issue any walks in the contest, but he uncorked two wild pitches, each of which allowed a run to cross the plate. He had trouble keeping runners off the basepaths, and the damage against him on the scoreboard could have been worse if not for a pair of double plays behind him. This was his shortest outing of the campaign and just the second time in his past seven starts that he failed to complete five innings. Kremer finishes the first half with a 2.59 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 32:12 K:BB over 41.2 innings.

  • Orioles' Dean Kremer: Strikes out seven in win

Kremer (3-1) earned the win against the Angels on Saturday, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out seven and walking three over five innings. Kremer did well against the Angels offense, throwing 58 of 98 pitches for strikes and limiting Los Angeles to just five baserunners. Aside from his last outing against Texas when he allowed five runs in 4.2 innings, Kremer has pitched well since he was called up June 5. Saturday's outing was the fourth time in seven games that the righty has not allowed a run. Kremer will take a 2.15 ERA into his next appearance.
