  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Lands on IL with strained hamstring

The Phillies placed Bohm on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a strained left hamstring, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Bohm first hurt his hamstring this past weekend, tried to return and then aggravated the issue. Phillies manager Rob Thomson has termed the strain as "very mild," so there's a chance the 26-year-old will be ready for activation when first eligible June 10. Edmundo Sosa and Josh Harrison will get a lot of run at third base in the meantime, with Kody Clemens and Drew Ellis playing first base -- at least until Darick Hall (thumb) returns.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Undergoes MRI on hamstring

Bohm underwent an MRI on his injured left hamstring Wednesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Bohm returned to action Tuesday after missing one game, but apparently his hamstring flared up again. He and the Phillies are still awaiting the results of the MRI, but a trip to the injured list is possible. The club has Edmundo Sosa at third base and Kody Clemens at first Wednesday.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: On bench Wednesday

Bohm is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets. Bohm sat out Sunday's 11-4 loss to Atlanta with left hamstring tightness, but he returned to the lineup at third base for Tuesday's series opener and went 0-for-3 in the 2-0 loss while playing all eight innings in the field. The Phillies haven't indicated that Bohm suffered a setback coming out of that contest, so his absence Wednesday could just be maintenance related.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Returns to lineup Tuesday

Bohm (hamstring) is back in the lineup Tuesday versus the Mets. Bohm sat out of Sunday's series finale in Atlanta due to hamstring tightness, but it has proven to be a minor issue. He'll handle third base and bat sixth Tuesday against the Mets and right-hander Kodai Senga.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Rests in series finale

Bohm is out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Atlanta. Bohm's absence from the starting nine in the series finale opens up room at the corner-infield spots for Kody Clemens and Edmundo Sosa, who will start at first and third base, respectively. Unless he's used off the bench, Bohm will put his five-game hitting streak on hold until he likely rejoins the lineup Tuesday against the Mets.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Not in lineup Tuesday

Bohm is on the bench Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks. Kody Clemens will start at first base and bat eighth versus the Diamondbacks and right-hander Ryne Nelson. Edmundo Sosa is at third base and hitting ninth. Bohm has slashed just .227/.284/.333 in 74 plate appearances since the calendar flipped to May.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Collects two hits

Bohm went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBI in Monday's 6-3 loss against the Giants. Bohm was the only source of offense for the Phillies. He gave Philadelphia the lead with his second-inning homer. Bohm then cut the deficit to three with a sac fly. Bohm is producing again this season with a .278/.345/.430 slash line. The biggest difference for Bohm in 2023 is an improved plate discipline, as he is on his way to setting a career high in walks.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Pops homer in win

Bohm went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Friday's 6-3 win over the Rockies. Bohm got the Phillies on the board with his seventh-inning solo shot, then scored on a Bryce Harper double in the eighth to put Philadelphia ahead for good. The long ball snapped a 27-game homer drought for Bohm, who had five doubles among 24 hits in that span. The infielder is up to four home runs, 26 RBI, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases with a .271/.342/.407 slash line through 38 contests.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Batting seventh again Tuesday

Bohm is batting seventh Tuesday night against the Dodgers. There has been talk of Bohm possibly dropping to the eighth spot in the order following the return of Bryce Harper, but the Phillies' current RBI leader will remain at seventh for now. Harper is batting third in his season debut Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. Brandon Marsh is hitting eighth with left-hander Julio Urias on the mound for Los Angeles.

Bohm gave the Phillies a 4-3 lead with a run-scoring ground out in the fourth and extended the advantage to 5-3 in the seventh with an RBI double. Through 23 games, the 26-year-old has seven extra-base hits, 18 RBI and 10 runs scored.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Expected to mostly stay at 3B

Bohm will remain the Phillies' primary third baseman rather than shift over to first base following the injury to Darick Hall (thumb), Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Bohm could see some starts at first base against left-handers, but the plan is to mostly leave him at third. Kody Clemens is slated to see the lion's share of starts at first base versus righties and Edmundo Sosa and Josh Harrison should also see an uptick in playing time.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Batting third Tuesday

Bohm is hitting third for the Phillies on Tuesday night against the Yankees. J.T. Realmuto has the night off, so Bohm gets a boost up the batting order versus the Yankees and right-hander Domingo German. The 26-year-old third baseman has gone 7-for-15 (.467) with one home run and two doubles through four games this season. Darick Hall is playing first base and hitting cleanup Tuesday in the Bronx.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Takes deGrom yard

Bohm went 3-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run, three RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the Rangers. Despite a number of key absences, Bohm was still hitting seventh in the Phillies' Opening Day lineup. Despite that, he played a major role in the team's offensive output as he slugged a two-run home run off Jacob deGrom in the second inning. Three frames later he delivered an RBI single. Bohm took a step forward in his production in 2022, and he'll be looking to make the next leap in his development in the current campaign.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Option to slide over to 1B?

Bohm could slide over to first base if the Phillies lose Rhys Hoskins (knee) for an extended period, Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Hoskins had to be carted off the field in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers after his left knee gave out on a play beyond the first base. The injury looked ugly, though there is no diagnosis just yet. Bohm moving to first makes sense, and Edmundo Sosa would probably then shift from a super-utility role to a regular presence at the hot corner. Darick Hall should also be in the first base picture, especially against tougher right-handed pitching opponents.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Hitting with authority this spring

Bohm has slugged three home runs and three doubles through 35 at-bats this spring in Grapefruit League play. Bohm ranks in the top 15 in OPS (.971) across the combined Grapefruit League and Cactus League leaderboards. The 26-year-old third baseman had a rollercoaster season at the plate in 2022, but he put together a couple of encouraging stretches and came up with some big hits during the Phillies' postseason run to the World Series. Consequently, the 2023 season could potentially qualify as a breakout campaign.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Solo shot in Game 3

Bohm went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk during Tuesday's 7-0 win over the Astros in Game 3 of the World Series. Bohm tacked on the third run of the night for the Phillies with a solo shot off Lance McCullers in the second inning, one of five homers for Philadelphia on the night. The 26-year-old has now recorded an extra-base hit in all three games of the World Series after hitting three in the previous 11 postseason games. Bohm is now hitting .208 with eight RBI in the postseason across 48 at-bats. The young third baseman will look to keep his power surge going Wednesday night in Game 4 of the World Series.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Takes seat Wednesday

Bohm isn't starting Wednesday against Houston. Bohm is getting a rare day off during Wednesday's regular-season finale after going 3-for-17 with a home run, a double, two runs, two RBI and two strikeouts over the last four games. Dalton Guthrie will start at the hot corner and bat seventh.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Finds home in No. 5 spot

Bohm will start at third base and bat fifth Monday against the Astros. Bohm had primarily served as the Phillies' No. 3 batter coming out of the All-Star break, but he's largely batted out of the No. 5 spot over the past three weeks, with Bryce Harper and J.T. Realmuto jumping him in the order. The 26-year-old could be in line for an off day Tuesday or Wednesday if the Phillies are able to clinch a wild-card spot Monday with a win or a Brewers loss to the Diamondbacks.

Bohm will sit Saturday against the Nationals. Bohm will sit for the first time in over two weeks. He's hit .309/.328/.400 in 13 games since his last time on the bench. Edmundo Sosa will handle the hot corner Saturday.

Bohm recorded a two-run triple in the fifth to put the Phillies on top, his second extra-base hit of the game off Sandy Alcantara. The third baseman has recorded eight multi-hit performances in his last 16 games, slashing .358/.389/.507 over 72 plate appearances during that span. The 26-year-old boasts a .956 OPS in 154 plate appearances against left-handed pitching, much better than his .647 OPS in 376 plate appearances facing righties.
