Rangers' Michael Helman: Catches on with Texas
The Rangers claimed Helman off waivers from the Pirates on Monday.
Helman will join his third organization in less than a week after the Pirates claimed him off waivers from the Cardinals last Wednesday. The 28-year-old utility player reached the big leagues for the first time with the Twins in 2024 but never saw MLB action during his stints in the St. Louis and Pittsburgh organizations. Helman will report to Triple-A Round Rock and could be an option to join the Rangers at some point later on in the season if Texas has a need for an extra infielder.

Pirates' Michael Helman: DFA'd by Pittsburgh
The Pirates designated Helman for assignment Friday.
The move makes room on the 40-man roster for Nick Solak, whose contract was selected by the Pirates from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. Helman was claimed off waivers by the Pirates on Wednesday after being DFA'd by the Cardinals. He is slashing .185/.260/.292 with one steal, one home run and five RBI across 73 plate appearances in Triple-A this season.

Cardinals' Michael Helman: Back from Triple-A IL
Triple-A Memphis activated Helman (undisclosed) from the 7-day injured list Thursday.
Helman missed nearly three weeks of action with an undisclosed injury. He's slashed only .204/.283/.278 with Memphis this season, and the Cardinals seem likely to turn to Thomas Saggese or Jose Fermin before Helman if they need a utility player.

Cardinals' Michael Helman: Sidelined at Triple-A
Triple-A Memphis placed Helman on its 7-day injured list April 22 due to an unspecified injury.
The 28-year-old utility player slashed .204/.283/.278 over 60 plate appearances with Memphis to begin the season before being shut down with the injury. Helman occupies a spot on the Cardinals' 40-man roster but didn't appear to be especially close to getting a look in the big leagues even before getting hurt.

Cardinals' Michael Helman: Sent to Triple-A
The Cardinals optioned Helman to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Helman went just 2-for-18 at the dish during Grapefruit League play, which likely eliminated any chance he had at breaking camp with the big club. The 28-year-old infielder reached the big leagues for the first time in 2024 as a member of the Twins, appearing in nine games for Minnesota last September.

Cardinals' Michael Helman: Dealt to St. Louis
The Twins traded Helman to the Cardinals on Thursday in exchange for cash.
Helman spent most of last season with Triple-A St. Paul, where he slashed .270/.349/.482 with 14 home runs and 48 RBI across 315 plate appearances. He also fared well in a small sample size during his first career MLB stint, going 3-for-10 at the plate while scoring two runs over nine games for Minnesota. Now with the Cardinals, the 28-year-old's defensive versatility could give him a leg up in the race for a bench spot, though there's a decent chance he begins the season at Triple-A Memphis.

Twins' Michael Helman: Returns to majors
The Twins recalled Helman from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday.
Helman went 3-for-8 with two runs scored during his first stint in the majors earlier this month, and he'll now rejoin the active roster to conclude the season with Jose Miranda (back) headed for the IL. The 28-year-old utility man has played every position other than catcher throughout his professional career, though it's unlikely he cracks the lineup in the final two games of the year.

The Twins optioned Helman to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Helman was called up on Sept. 1 but received just one start, going 3-for-8 at the plate during his brief first stint in the big leagues. Manuel Margot (adductor) returned from the injured list to replace Helman on the 28-man active roster.

Twins' Michael Helman: Back from injured list
Helman (shoulder), who was activated from the minor-league injured list Aug. 28, was promoted from Double-A Wichita to Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday, Brandon Warne of Access Twinsreports.
Helman landed on the 60-day IL for St. Paul in May with a dislocated shoulder, and he played a few games with Wichita after being reinstated last week before rejoining the Triple-A club. The 27-year-old has just 12 games under his belt at Triple-A this year but has hit well in the limited sample with a .333/.434/.711 slash line and four homers.

Twins' Michael Helman: Back on Triple-A IL
Helman (undisclosed) is back on the 7-day injured list with Triple-A St. Paul.
He missed time earlier this year with a hamstring issue, so he may have aggravated that injury. Helman, who just turned 27, has hit .333 with a .434 OBP, four home runs, two steals and a 13.2 percent strikeout rate in 12 games at Triple-A this season.

Twins' Michael Helman: Back in action for Triple-A club
Helman (hamstring) has gone 4-for-17 with two home runs, two walks, six RBI and an additional run scored in four games since being activated from Triple-A St. Paul's 7-day injured list Tuesday.
Helman opened the campaign on St. Paul's IL due to the hamstring issue and missed about three weeks of action before gaining clearance to make his debut for the Triple-A club. He should handle a near-everyday role at St. Paul now that he's healthy again.

Twins' Michael Helman: Out with hamstring injury
Helman has been placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul to begin the season, TwinsDaily.com reports.
Helman was promoted to Triple-A last season after hitting six home runs with an .839 OPS in 39 games at Double-A. He hit 14 home runs at Triple-A in 96 games but had just a .741 OPS. He was invited to big league spring training but missed much of it with the hamstring issue. It's not clear when he may return.
