  • Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Connects for first spring XBH

Lowe went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Sunday's spring game against Seattle. Lowe drilled an 0-2 pitch that caught too much of the plate for his first Cactus League home run and extra-base hit. He had a monster second half in 2022, connecting for 15 home runs and a .965 OPS after the All-Star break. There was no weakness at the plate, as the lefty-batter fared better against southpaws than against righties. Is one breakout season enough for fantasy managers to put faith in Lowe? The deeper metrics indicate he adjusted his swing for more loft; if that continues in 2023, he could be a sneaky value pick for fantasy managers.

  • Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Avoids arbitration

Lowe avoided arbitration by signing a one-year, $4.05 million contract with the Rangers on Friday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Lowe had a career year in 2022, slashing .302/.358/.492 over 645 plate appearances while hitting 27 home runs and driving in 76 RBI. He started all but nine games as the Rangers' first baseman, with his ability to handle same-side pitching -- he posted a .920 OPS against lefties in 2022 -- making him even more of a reliable fantasy option.

  • Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Goes yard again

Lowe went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Angels. The Rangers had only two hits in the contest, with Lowe's seventh-inning blast accounting for their run production. The first baseman has an extra-base hit in three of the last four games. He's up to a .302/.355/.497 slash line with 27 homers, 76 RBI, 72 runs scored and three triples through 152 contests in a breakout campaign.

Lowe went 1-for-6 with a solo home run in Thursday's 10-9 loss to the Mariners in extra innings. Lowe didn't have a great game, but he was able to get the Rangers within a run with his seventh-inning blast. He'd gone 10 games without a homer, batting .263 with just two RBI and three runs scored in that span. The first baseman is up to 26 long balls on the year while adding 74 RBI, 71 runs scored, two stolen bases, 26 doubles, three triples and a .304/.357/.496 slash line through 150 contests.

  • Rangers' Nate Lowe: Possible waiver wire pickups

Maybe it's because he's only eligible at first base, but for some reason, Lowe's roster rate has been stuck in the 50-75 percent range for months. It's time to shed some light on what a productive season he's having. He's been particularly strong in August, raising his batting average for the month to .395 (30 for 76) after going 2 for 5 with a home run Sunday, but he first found another gear in early June, batting .323 (84 for 260) with 13 homers and a .912 OPS over his past 68 games. He's the No. 10 first baseman in points scoring and No. 6 in 5x5 during that stretch.

  • Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Second-half surge continues

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Rockies. Lowe's defensive issues persist, but he's more resembling a first baseman with his bat this season. The home run was his career-high 19th, and Lowe's been one of the game's best hitters since the All-Star break. Lowe ranks first in hits (45), fourth in average (.349) and eighth in slugging (.581) over the second half. He's under team control heading into 2023 and there isn't much depth at first base in the system, unless there's a plan to have Josh Jung, who's dabbled at first base in the minors, become permanent there.

For the season, he's slashing .294/.345/.467 with 17 home runs, 53 RBI, 53 runs scored and two stolen bases through 469 plate appearances.

  • Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Breaks open game with HR

Lowe went 1-for-3 with a walk, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Thursday's 10-3 win over Oakland. Lowe's fifth-inning homer gave the Rangers separation on their way to a lopsided victory. It was his 17th home run in 113 games, leaving him one shy of the career high he set in 2021 over 157 games. It's been a tumultuous week in Arlington -- both manager Chris Woodward and general manager Jon Daniels were given pink slips -- but that didn't distract Lowe, who is 7-for-18 in five games this week. He's slashed .353/.405/.588 over 27 games since the All-Star break, all while batting no lower than fifth in the order.

Lowe has hit safely in seven straight games and has multiple hits in seven of 15 games in August. For the month, he's batting .400 (22-for-55) with five extra-base hits, lifting his season slash line to .291/.341/.463 through 111 contests. He's added 16 home runs, 49 RBI, 51 runs scored and two stolen bases.

  • Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Pads lead in win

Lowe went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Mariners. One batter after Adolis Garcia knocked in the go-ahead run with two out in the seventh inning, Lowe gave Texas a cushion by doubling him in. The first baseman is more aggressive in 2022, increasing his swing and first-pitch swing percentage. That's resulted in fewer walks but higher average, slugging and OPS. Lowe's been swinging a strong bat since the break, slashing .348/.394/.576 with 12 extra-base hits, 11 RBI and 10 runs scored over the last 24 games.
