Lowe went 0-for-3 with a walk and run scored in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Atlanta. Lowe was activated off the injured list and made his season debut, batting fifth and playing first base. He should be the primary first baseman going forward against lefties or righties.... See More ... See Less

Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Returns from IL
The Rangers reinstated Lowe (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Saturday. The Rangers have been without Lowe all season after he suffered a right oblique strain during spring training. He played six games with Triple-A Round Rock during his rehab assignment and went just 3-for-20 with a homer and four RBI, though he capped off his time in the minors with a 2-for-4 performance Thursday. The 28-year-old will slide back into his usual role as Texas' everyday first baseman and figures to provide a solid boost to the Rangers' lineup. Jared Walsh was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: May not return this weekend
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Wednesday that Lowe will need "about 30 [at-bats], could be more" during his minor-league rehab assignment before returning from the 10-day injured list, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. After kicking off his rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco last Friday, Lowe looked as though he could be ready to rejoin the Rangers by the weekend. However, Bochy's comments suggest that the Rangers are planning for Lowe to have a more extended stay in the minors to get his timing back at the plate before reinstalling him as their everyday first baseman. Lowe has since shifted his assignment to Triple-A Round Rock and has gotten in 16 at-bats over five total minor-league games, recording just one hit (a home run) while drawing two walks. If Bochy sticks to his estimate of Lowe needing about 30 at-bats before being activated, the 28-year-old seems poised to remain with Round Rock through the weekend before rejoining the Rangers for the start of their homestand next Tuesday.... Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Begins batting practice
Lowe (oblique) took live batting practice and ran the bases Wednesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. Lowe, who's been taking groundballs since last week, took another step in his rehab Wednesday. Texas manager Bruce Bochy anticipates a rehab assignment beginning within the next week.... See More ... Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Rehab games coming soon?
Lowe (oblique) could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment after taking live batting practice Tuesday and Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. Lowe is a month removed from suffering a right oblique strain and would appear past the injury at this point, so it's more about getting his timing down before rejoining the Rangers' lineup. Jared Walsh has been seeing the bulk of the reps at first base for Texas with Lowe out but would revert to a reserve role or occasional designated hitter when Lowe is ready.... See More ... Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Participates in batting practice
Lowe (oblique) took part in batting practice Friday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports. Lowe started the season on the 10-day injured list after being diagnosed with a right oblique strain in spring training. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy noted that Lowe will likely face live pitching in the next few days, per Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, so a minor-league rehab assignment doesn't appear far off.... Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Heads to IL
The Rangers placed Lowe (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Thursday. Lowe will be eligible to come off the IL ahead of the Rangers' April 5 game against the Astros, but the team is expecting him to be ready to return from his right oblique strain around mid-to-late April, per MLB.com. Jared Walsh and Ezequiel Duran are expected to form a platoon at first base to begin the season until Lowe is ready to return.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Diagnosed with oblique strain
Lowe is expected to be sidelined up to four weeks after being diagnosed with a right oblique strain, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports. Lowe had to be scratched from Thursday's lineup after reporting oblique soreness, and an MRI has revealed a strain. The severity of the strain is not clear, but even a low-grade oblique strain can cost a player multiple weeks. Jared Walsh and Justin Foscue have handled first base for the Rangers the last few days, with Walsh looking like the leading candidate to fill in for Lowe based in his strong spring. Manager Bruce Bochy also listed Blaine Crim, Ezequiel Duran, Josh Smith and Davis Wendzel as options at first base, although Duran and Smith could be needed at shortstop if Corey Seager (groin) isn't ready for Opening Day. It's also possible Lowe's absence would give Wyatt Langford a better shot at cracking the Opening Day roster.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Dealing with side tightness
Lowe reported tightness in his side before the Rangers' Cactus League game against Arizona on Thursday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. Lowe's side caused him to be scratched in favor of Jared Walsh, but manager Bruce Bochy didn't seem too concerned about Lowe's condition. Lowe is 3-for-18 with two RBI across seven games so far this spring, and his absence from the lineup will likely be brief.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Swats third double
Lowe went 1-for-3 with a double in Monday's spring game against the Angels. Lowe is 3-for-15 through six Cactus League games, and all three hits are doubles. While he was unable to repeat his 2022 Silver Slugger Award last season, Lowe remains a good contact hitter that sits in the middle of a productive Texas lineup. The first baseman should see a good share of opportunities with runners in scoring position.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Swats 17th long ball
Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Angels on Monday in a 5-1 win. After Adolis Garcia and Mitch Garver hit consecutive solo homers in the sixth inning, Lowe made it three straight with his own blast to right field. The long ball was just his second over a 34-game stretch dating back to Aug. 19. Lowe has shown less power with 17 homers this season after slugging a career-high 27 last year, but he's improved his RBI count from 76 to 81 thanks largely to hitting in a much more potent Rangers offense.... Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Logs rare steal
Lowe went 1-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base in Sunday's 6-5 win over Minnesota. Lowe was successful on his only attempted steal of the season. He swiped eight bags two seasons ago for Texas, but the first baseman typically doesn't produce in that category.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Knocks in two
Lowe went 1-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Diamondbacks. Lowe put the Rangers on top with a two-run double in the top of the 11th, but Will Smith was unable to hold the lead. The first baseman has hit safely in four consecutive games with two doubles, a home run and four RBI, but his torrid finish to July turned into a meek August. Lowe, who batted .404 over 15 games coming out of the All-Star break, is batting .231 over 19 games during the current month.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Homers in loss
Lowe went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's loss against Milwaukee. Lowe's fourth-inning blast put the Rangers on the board, pulling them to within one at the time. Lowe has been a constant source of production all season, but has picked it up even more since the All-Star break, hitting .297 with six home runs and 20 RBI and 21 runs scored across 118 at-bats.... Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Opens scoring Friday
Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-1 win over the Giants. Lowe broke a scoreless deadlock with his sixth-inning blast off Ross Stripling. Lowe has gone just 6-for-26 (.231) over his last six games, but he's swatted two homers and four doubles with five RBI in that span. The first baseman is slashing .280/.373/.454 with 13 long balls, 63 RBI, 72 runs scored and 32 doubles through 115 contests as one of the steadiest hitters in the Rangers' strong lineup.... Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Lifts two-run homer
Lowe went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 6-0 win over the Marlins. While Lowe has generally hit well in recent weeks, this was his first homer since July 26. The first baseman's blast extended the Rangers' lead to 3-0 in the third inning and was one of four homers for the team in the contest. Lowe is at a .284/.378/.453 slash line with 13 long balls, 62 RBI, 71 runs scored, 30 doubles and two triples through 111 contests, though he has not attempted a stolen base.... See More ... Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Amid second half surge
Lowe went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 11-1 win over the White Sox. Lowe has been one of the best hitters in MLB since the All-Star break. The first baseman was a perfect 4-for-4 in his first game back and hasn't stopped. He's slashing .397/.514/.638 with three doubles, one triple, three home runs, 13 RBI, 14 walks and 15 runs over 17 games.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Gets aboard four times
Lowe went 2-for-4 with a home run, two walks, three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 13-5 win over the Astros. Lowe got the Rangers on the board with a two-run homer in the third inning, then drew a bases-loaded walk to force in a run in the fifth. He's been consistent at the plate since the All-Star break, hitting safely in 11 of 12 games while batting .429 (18-for-42) over that span. The first baseman has 12 homers, 57 RBI, 69 runs scored, 27 doubles and two triples while slashing .286/.380/.455 through 102 games overall.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Knocks in two
Lowe went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Sunday's 6-5 win over Cleveland. Lowe delivered the first of three RBI singles in the eighth inning that turned a 5-2 deficit into the winning 6-5 margin. Surprisingly, the potent Rangers lineup, which leads the league in run differential, were 0-and-27 when trailing after seven innings until Sunday's comeback. Earlier in the contest, he drove in Corey Seager for the Rangers' second run. Lowe's power indicators -- home runs and slugging -- are down from his breakout 2022 season, but the first baseman remains a middle-of-the-order bat in a powerful offense.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Perfect day at plate
Lowe went 4-for-4 with a solo homer, a double, four runs scored and a walk in Friday's win over Cleveland. Lowe put the Rangers on the board with a solo shot in the fourth inning and would cross home three more times in the big performance. It was his second home run of the month and 10th of the year after a seven-game drought. He bumped his season slash line up to .278/.368/.439 with 37 extra-base hits and 59 runs scored through 416 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less
