  • Reds' Nick Solak: Reassigned to minor-league camp

Solak was reassigned to minor-league spring training Saturday. Solak was acquired for cash considerations in November, but any hopes of him duplicating Brandon Drury's success from last season seems to have gone out the window with this move. Solak's career .252/.327/.372 slash line isn't good but is far from terrible, so if he does get a run of games for the Reds at some point, he could have fantasy value in at least deeper leagues. The fact that the Reds -- who don't exactly possess a roster packed with proven talent -- took him out of Opening Day consideration with nearly three weeks to go suggests his stock is quite low right now.

  • Reds' Nick Solak: In lineup Sunday

Solak (foot) is starting in left field and batting seventh in Sunday's spring game against the Giants, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Solak ended last season on the injured list with a fractured right foot but is good to go early in spring training. The 28-year-old was acquired by the Reds from the Rangers in November and will compete for a utility role in camp.

  • Reds' Nick Solak: Traded to Cincinnati

Solak (foot) was acquired by the Reds from the Rangers on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations. Solak appeared in only 35 games for the Rangers in 2022 before he suffered a fractured right foot in September. He has a .246/.317/.354 slash line in 749 plate appearances across the past three seasons and should compete for a utility role with Cincinnati during spring training.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Shifts to 60-day IL

Solak (foot) was placed on the 60-day injured list Wednesday. The 27-year-old will miss the rest of the season after he suffered a fractured right foot last week, and the Rangers have moved him to the 60-day IL to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for Kevin Plawecki, who signed with Texas on Wednesday. Solak played in 35 big-league games this year and finished with a .207/.309/.329 slash line, three home runs and three stolen bases.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Done for season

Solak is done for the season due to a right foot fracture, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. A roster move will come Tuesday. Solak, 27, has been at least 10 percent worse than a league-average hitter in each of the last three seasons, which is a problem given that he is supposed to be a bat-first player. He will look to stick with the Rangers organization as a bench piece, but it would not be surprising if he were traded or cast off the 40-man roster this offseason.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: In walking boot

Solak remains in a walking boot after getting hit in the foot by a pitch Wednesday against Oakland, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. The Rangers reportedly aren't yet sure if Solak's foot is broken. If it is, his season would be over. His absence isn't a big loss for the Rangers, however, as he's started just once since returning to the big leagues at the beginning of September.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Makes first start since callup

Solak started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Houston. Solak was added to the roster as part of the September roster expansion last week but hadn't appeared in a game until Wednesday. He's been given chances to stick with the major-league roster the last few seasons, including 127 games in 2021, but it appears Solak's window is closing. The Rangers are looking at prospects younger than the 27-year-old Solak, who could latch on as a utility player in 2023.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Added to active roster

Solak was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. Solak was sent to Round Rock in early August, and he slashed .260/.365/.521 with five home runs, four doubles, 16 RBI, 15 runs and two stolen bases over 18 minor-league games following his demotion. Since active rosters expanded to 28 players Thursday, Solak will rejoin the big-league club to provide additional depth.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Sent to Triple-A

Solak was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday. Solak was called up by Texas in mid-July and went 2-for-10 with a solo home run and a walk in seven games. The 27-year-old has a .208/.299/.338 slash line in 88 plate appearances this year. Brad Miller (neck) was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Launches pinch-hit HR

Solak went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Orioles. Solak entered as a pinch hitter and finished off the scoring with a ninth-inning blast, his third homer of the season -- he has 11 in the minors. The right-hitting utility player has been used sparingly since being called up at the All-Star break, making a couple of starts against lefties and also serving as a pinch hitter. In both of his starts, Solak has been replaced for a pinch hitter.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Starting at DH

Solak is starting at designated hitter and batting eighth Wednesday versus the Mariners. Solak will start for the first time since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on July 17. The 27-year-old has fallen out of favor with the Rangers in 2022, producing a .200 average with two homers, three RBI and 11 runs over 70 at-bats in 28 games.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Summoned from minors

The Rangers recalled Solak from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday. Solak isn't included in the lineup for Sunday's series finale with the Mariners and will likely function as a short-side platoon option off the bench while he's up with Texas. In 75 plate appearances for the Rangers this season, Solak has slashed .209/.293/.313 with a 22.7 percent strikeout rate.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Sent to Triple-A

Solak was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. Solak started only one of the past five games and has now been demoted to the minors. The 27-year-old hit .209/.293/.313 with two home runs, three RBI and three stolen bases in 75 plate appearances. Mitch Garver (elbow) was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: On bench in second straight

Solak is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels. Solak is on the bench against a right-handed starting pitcher (Noah Syndergaard) for the second day in a row and looks to have lost hold of his everyday role to Eli White, who remains in the lineup Monday as Texas' leadoff man. Since the beginning of May, Solak has appeared in 10 games and has slashed an underwhelming .214/.267/.250, though he's at least chipped in three stolen bases.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Not in Sunday's lineup

Solak is not in Sunday's lineup against the Red Sox. He is hitting .214 with zero home runs and three steals in 10 games this month. Eli White gets the start in left field while Brad Miller starts at designated hitter.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Doubles, swipes two bags

Solak went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases in a 6-4 win Tuesday over Kansas City. Both of Solak's stolen bases directly led to runs, as he stole second before scoring on a two-out single in the fourth and, in the sixth, stole third and scored on a wild pitch. Entering the game he was in the midst of a massive slump, going 3-for-26 in the last 14 contests. It was his first double and third extra-base hit on the season. His .700 OPS is right in line with his .706 career mark.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Sits in second straight

Solak is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader with the Yankees. Solak has a clearer path to playing time against right-handed pitching following Willie Calhoun's recent demotion to Triple-A Round Rock, but the former will nonetheless find himself on the bench versus a righty (Gerrit Cole) for the second game in a row. Rather than leaning on Solak as a direct replacement for Calhoun, the Rangers are more likely to rotate a number of different players in the designated-hitter spot.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Sits against right-hander

Solak isn't starting Wednesday against Philadelphia. Most of Solak's starts this season have come against left-handed pitchers, and he'll retreat to the bench against righty Zack Wheeler on Wednesday. Andy Ibanez will serve as the designated hitter while Zach Reks enters the lineup in left field.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Gets start against lefty

Solak started in left field and went 1-for-2 with a stolen base and run scored in Sunday's 7-3 win over Atlanta. Solak got the start in left field, per usual when the Rangers face left-handed starters. He was pulled later in the game for a pinch hitter against a righty reliever. Solak is the primary starter in left field against lefties, while Brad Miller and, more recently, Zach Reks occupy left field against righties.

  • Rangers' Nick Solak: Belts big blast

Solak went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 8-6 win over Seattle. The Mariners built a five-run first-inning lead in the contest, but the Rangers clawed their way back. They took their first lead in the fifth inning when Solak swatted a two-run shot to left field. The long ball was his second of the season and first since Opening Day. Before Thursday, he hadn't knocked in a run over his previous seven games.
