  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Erupts for two homers, six RBI

Stewart went 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI in Wednesday's win over the Giants. Stewart delivered the biggest game of his young career, launching two three-run homers in the first two innings to put Cincinnati firmly in control. His first long ball gave the Reds an immediate lead in the first, and he followed it up an inning later with another three-run shot off Tyler Mahle to break the game open. It was Stewart's first career multi-homer game, and his six RBI set a career high. The 22-year-old continues to be one of baseball's breakout stars early on, batting .323 while ranking near the top of the league in home runs (seven), slugging percentage (.726) and OPS (1.160) through 18 games.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Goes yard again Tuesday

Stewart went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Giants. His fourth-inning shot off Robbie Ray ended up being the game-winning hit. Stewart has left the yard in three of the last six games, continuing an impressive start to his first full MLB season that has seen him compile a .310/.431/.638 slash line with five homers, three steals, 11 runs and 11 RBI in 17 contests, as well as more walks (13) than strikeouts (12).

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Swats fourth homer Thursday

Stewart went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 8-1 loss to the Marlins. Stewart's fourth home run of the season came in the fifth inning off Max Meyer and was the only offense for Cincinnati on Thursday. Stewart continues to be one of the hottest hitters in baseball with a .364/.473/.727 slash line, including the four homers, nine RBI, eight runs scored, three stolen bases and a 10:8 BB:K across 55 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Stays hot with two hits

Stewart went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Rangers. Cincinnati scored both of its runs in the top of the first inning against Kumar Rocker, as Elly De La Cruz singled home Matt McLain before Stewart singled home De La Cruz. Through eight games, Stewart is locked in as the Reds' everyday first baseman, slashing .407/.529/.741 with three doubles, two home runs, four RBI, five runs scored and a 7:5 BB:K across 34 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Bat remains hot

Stewart went 2-for-2 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Red Sox. There was no let-up for Stewart in the third game of the season. He's now had multiple hits and reached base at least three times in all three games, going 7-for-10 with three walks, zero strikeouts and more extra-base hits than singles. He also showed advanced baserunning Sunday, advancing to second base on a flyout to center field, which put him in a position to reach third base when the next batter singled to left field.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Playing through wrist soreness

Stewart will start at first base and bat fourth Saturday against the Red Sox. Concerns regarding Stewart's health arose after he took a 110-mph Roman Anthony line drive off his wrist in the fifth inning of Thursday's contest, but Stewart said Saturday that he only feels a little sore and will continue to play, per Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer. The 22-year-old infielder finished the season opener 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and is poised to start most games at first base for the Reds, though he's also capable of covering second or third.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Rips three hits in opener

Stewart batted cleanup and went 3-for-4 with two doubles in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Red Sox. Reds manager Terry Francona began experimenting with Stewart batting fourth followed by Eugenio Suarez late in spring training and stuck with it for Opening Day against Boston left-hander Garrett Crochet. The 22-year-old Stewart collected three of the four hits Boston's ace would allow, and Stewart managed to stay in the game after taking a Roman Anthony line drive off the hand while playing the field. Stewart slashed .327/450/.592 during spring training with four doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI across 20 games and will be the Reds' mainstay at first base and part of the rotation at DH, but he could also be an option at second or third base.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Hits mammoth homer, plates four

Stewart clubbed a three-run home run and added an RBI double in Monday's Cactus League game versus the Cubs. Stewart's long ball off of Collin Snider in the fifth inning went over the batter's eye in center field and was measured at 410 feet and 107.2 mph off the bat. It was the 22-year-old's second home run this spring, and he also added his second stolen base. Stewart cranked five home runs in 18 regular-season games down the stretch for the Reds last season and has breakout potential in his first full big-league season in 2026.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Drops weight

Stewart shed 26 pounds during the offseason, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. Stewart, primarily a third baseman in the minors, has a clear path to playing regularly at first base and designated hitter this season. Last season's primary starter at first base, Spencer Steer, will likely be a regular in left field while also subbing in at three infield positions. Stewart was introduced to first base last season and had a throwing error in the playoffs that led to a four-run rally by the Dodgers. It's unclear if the error prompted him to drop the weight, but the early report out of camp is that the slimmer Stewart has improved his athleticism. How that reduction in weight impacts his offense is something to monitor, but the 22-year-old prospect is confident he will retain his compact swing and continue to hit for power. During a September call-up last year, Stewart slashed .255/.293/.545 with five home runs, eight RBIs and 11 runs scored over 58 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Focusing on first base

Stewart spent the winter getting into better shape, losing 20-plus pounds, and he's been working on his defense at first base, Charlie Goldsmith of The Dayton Daily News reports. After the Reds traded for Ke'Bryan Hayes last year, Stewart had to learn first base on the fly. He'll enter this season more comfortable at the position, and presumably has the inside track to play there regularly in 2026. The Reds still have to find playing time for both Stewart and Spencer Steer, but they can be in the same lineup with one of them at DH and the other at first base.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Losing out on playing time

Stewart is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs. On the bench for the third game in a row, Stewart appears to have faded into a utility infield role while Spencer Steer has regained control of primary duties at first base. The Reds will still likely find room for Stewart in the lineup against left-handed pitching, but the rookie's opportunities to play against righties could be sporadic over the final week of the regular season.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Fills in at first base Saturday

Stewart entered Saturday's 6-3 win over the Cubs in the sixth inning to play first base and went 0-for-1 in his lone plate appearance. Stewart entered the game when left fielder Austin Hays (back) was removed, and Spencer Steer moved from first base to left field. Stewart had been held out of the starting lineups Friday and Saturday, likely in deference to the hot-hitting Steer and the return of third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes, who missed time with a back issue. The Hays injury could lead to opportunities for Stewart at first base, although manager Terry Francona has more options for left field than just Steer. Will Benson and Gavin Lux could also fill in.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Taking seat Friday

Stewart is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs. Stewart had started each of the previous six contests but will get a breather Friday after going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Thursday's game versus the Cubs. Spencer Steer is handling first base and Ke'Bryan Hayes (back) has returned to the lineup at third base.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Fills in for injured teammate

Stewart started at third base and went 0-for-3 in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Cubs. Stewart manned the hot corner for a second consecutive game with Ke'Bryan Hayes nursing soreness in his back. Hayes, who entered as a defensive replacement in the ninth inning Thursday, is expected to see a specialist by Monday. Presumably, Stewart will continue to start at third base until Hayes is ready to resume a full-time role.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Continues to mash

Stewart went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two additional runs scored in Monday's victory over the Cardinals. Stewart delivered the second three-hit effort of his young career Monday, starting it off with a 112.6 mph blast over the left-field wall. The highly-touted prospect hasn't drawn a walk yet but continues to hammer the ball at the major-league level, slashing .297/.297/.622 with four homers and six RBI through his first 11 games.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Taking over at first base

Stewart started at first base and went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Athletics. Stewart launched his third homer in 10 games since being called up when rosters expanded in September. He's started four of the last five games and six of the last seven at first base, as the prospect has nudged Spencer Steer out of the way. The Reds, who were swept by the A's, are still in the hunt for a playoff spot, but manager Terry Francona appears to be juggling two missions -- develop young talent while not abandoning the quest for the postseason.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Racks up three hits Saturday

Stewart went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 11-5 loss to the Athletics. Stewart is now batting .250 over nine games in the majors, and he's added two home runs, three RBI and four runs scored. The infield prospect has settled into a timeshare with Spencer Steer at first base since he was called up when rosters expanded to 28 at the beginning of September. Stewart should continue to display high-quality contact skills as he adjusts to major-league pitching, and he'll compete for playing time at the corner-infield spots to close out 2025.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Gets call to majors

The Reds selected Stewart's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Monday. He will start at first base and bat sixth in the Reds' series opener versus the Blue Jays. Stewart has been a consistent producer throughout his minor-league career, and he started getting to more over-the-fence power in his age-21 season. He slashed .309/.383/.524 with 20 home runs, 17 steals and a 15.6 percent strikeout rate in 118 games across Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A. Stewart is capable of playing second, third and first base and should get regular work down the stretch. He's more of an average runner than a plus runner, so his speed may not translate in September, but Stewart's hitting ability, role and home park make him a worthwhile roster addition in fantasy.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Moving to Triple-A

The Reds are promoting Stewart to Triple-A Louisville, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports. Stewart will move one step closer to the majors after shining in Double-A ball, posting a .306/.377.473 slash line with 10 homers, 44 RBI, 51 runs and 13 stolen bases over 80 games. The 21-year-old also continued to show an excellent eye at the plate with a 15.5 percent strikeout rate. If Stewart continues to hit well with Louisville, he could get his first call-up to the majors later this season.

  • Reds' Sal Stewart: Monster start at Double-A

Stewart went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader for Double-A Chattanooga. Stewart bailed out the Lookouts, who were down to their final out before the 21-year-old hit a walk-off grand slam. He's handling his introduction to Double-A pitching with aplomb, going 11-for-28 (.393) with two home runs, four doubles, six RBI, four steals and eight runs through seven games.
