Rooker went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 8-2 win over the Tigers. Rooker has turned the power all the way up late in the season, homering six times over his last nine games. His blast Friday was his 29th of the campaign. The outfielder has added a .241/.325/.487 slash line with 65 RBI, 59 runs scored, three stolen bases and 18 doubles over 129 contests.... See More ... See Less

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Launches 27th homer Wednesday
Rooker went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Mariners on Wednesday. Rooker was one of the few bright spots for Oakland's bats, hitting the second of two Athletics homers off George Kirby when he launched a 410-foot shot with Seth Brown aboard in the sixth. The rookie has now left the yard in four of his last seven games, a welcome power surge that's helped him push his season-long OPS over the .800 mark (.801).... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Not starting Tuesday
Rooker isn't in the Athletics' lineup Tuesday against Seattle. Rooker has slashed .214/.313/.548 with four homers since the start of September, and he'll take a seat for the start of Tuesday's contest. Tyler Soderstrom will fill in as Oakland's DH while Tony Kemp, Esteury Ruiz and Seth Brown start in the outfield.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Provides only run with homer
Rooker went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Padres. The Athletics only managed six total hits on the day and Rooker accounted for two of them including their only extra-base hit of the day with an eighth-inning solo home run. The long ball was his third over the last five games and his 26th of the year, as he continues to be one of the rare sources of power in the A's lineup. For the year, the first-time All-Star is slashing .241/.324/.797 with 60 RBI, 55 runs and a 45:126 BB:K in 481 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: On bench Saturday
Rooker will sit Saturday against the Padres. Rooker leads Oakland in homers (25) this season, and his .239/.324/.467 slash line is good for a 119 wRC+, third on the team behind Ryan Noda and Zack Gelof. Under ordinary circumstances, that would probably be good for an everyday role, but with the 46-101 Athletics firmly in rebuild mode, expect them to continue spreading at-bats around down the stretch so they can evaluate what they have on their roster. Tyler Soderstrom will be Saturday's designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Not in Tuesday's lineup
Rooker is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Astros. Rooker is hitting .214 with two home runs, one steal and a 39.4 percent strikeout rate in eight games this month. Tyler Soderstrom will slot in as designated hitter while batting eighth.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Homers, swipes bag Monday
Rooker went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, a stolen base and a walk in a 4-0 win against the Astros on Monday. Rooker put the A's on the board in the second inning with a monstrous 442-foot solo shot off Framber Valdez. The 28-year-old leads Oakland with 24 homers and 58 RBI on the campaign, though he's also struck out 151 times. His 32.3 percent strikeout rate is second-highest in the majors among qualified hitters.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Out of lineup Sunday
Rooker is absent from the lineup Sunday at Texas. Rooker takes a seat after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the Athletics' loss to the Rangers on Saturday. Seth Brown is occupying the DH role, and Esteury Ruiz will patrol right field in Sunday's series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Sitting Tuesday
Rooker isn't in the Athletics' lineup Tuesday against the Blue Jays. Rooker will sit down Tuesday after starting September 3-for-14 with a homer, two RBI and three runs scored over four games. Rooker's absence will allow Tyler Soderstrom to serve as Oakland's DH and bat seventh.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Squares up for key homer
Rooker went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in a win over the Angels on Saturday. Rooker's 23rd blast of the season was a noteworthy one, a 436-foot shot with Ryan Noda aboard in the fourth inning that would prove to be the difference in the game despite it coming relatively early in the contest. Rooker has been swinging a particularly productive bat since mid-August despite still struggling with making consistent contact -- he owns a .277 average and .852 OPS over his last 17 games, a stretch that includes eight extra-base hits (four doubles, four homers) and eight RBI.... Athletics' Brent Rooker: Launches 22nd homer Thursday
Rooker went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the White Sox on Thursday. Rooker's 418-foot solo shot to center in the sixth inning ignited the Athletics' comeback from a 5-3 deficit. The 28-year-old has been on a power tear of late with three homers in his last four games, and he's now hitting .314 with five extra-base hits and six RBI across his last nine contests overall.... Athletics' Brent Rooker: Slugs game-winning homer
Rooker went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-4 victory versus the Royals. After hitting his 20th homer of the season Sunday, Rooker followed with No. 21 a day later. The long ball proved to be the difference in the contest, as it came in the ninth inning and broke a 4-4 tie. Rooker struggled at the plate early in August, but he's been coming on of late, batting .346 (9-for-26) with two homers, four RBI and five runs over his past seven games.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Raps out three hits
Rooker went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 9-4 loss to the Orioles. Rooker was a bright spot for the Athletics in this contest. He's gone 9-for-27 (.333) with three extra-base hits over his last seven games. The outfielder is up to a .246/.332/.466 slash line with 19 home runs, 15 doubles, 50 RBI, 42 runs scored and two stolen bases through 101 contests in his first full major-league season.... Athletics' Brent Rooker: Swats 19th long ball
Rooker went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Washington. Rooker tagged starter Jake Irvin for a solo homer in the sixth inning and pushed his season total to 19. The outfielder has been slumping lately, batting 3-for-23 (.130) across his last eight games, but still owns a .240/.327/.467 slash line on the year (96 games).... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Takes seat Friday
Rooker is not in the lineup Friday against the Nationals. Lawrence Butler will patrol right field and bat eighth in his MLB debut, while Esteury Ruiz is in center and hitting leadoff. Rooker has enjoyed a solid overall season with Oakland, but he stands 3-for-23 (.130) with no walks and nine strikeouts through eight games in August.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Back in lineup
Rooker will start in right field and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Giants. Rooker was on the bench for Saturday's 2-1 win, though he entered the contest as a pinch hitter and delivered a single in his lone plate appearance. Back in the lineup Sunday, Rooker has now started in eight of the past nine games and looks to have solidified a regular spot in right field in the wake of Oakland designating Ramon Laureano for assignment. Rooker has posted a modest .689 OPS while striking out at a 37.2 percent clip since the All-Star break, but that level of production is enough to keep his playing time secure in an Oakland lineup lacking in impact bats.... Athletics' Brent Rooker: Homers in big win
Rooker went 2-for-3 with a home run, two walks and three RBI in Saturday's 11-3 win over the Rockies. Rooker hit a two-run blast in the second inning and added a sacrifice fly in the sixth to pad Oakland's lead. After a week-long absence with an illness, Rooker has played in three straight games, going 5-for-10 in that span. The 28-year-old appeared to be losing playing time prior to his absence, but he looks like the Athletics' preferred designated hitter for now. He's slashing .248/.342/.479 with 17 homers, 47 RBI, 35 runs scored and two stolen bases through 86 contests overall.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Scratched with illness
Rooker was scratched from the lineup Friday versus the Astros due to an illness, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Seth Brown is now playing right field and batting eighth for the Athletics. As long as it's not a serious ailment, Rooker should be available again sometime this weekend. He has a decent .783 OPS so far in July after slumping badly through much of June.... See More ... Athletics' Brent Rooker: Strikes out three times
Rooker went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Monday's 7-0 loss to the Red Sox. Rooker missed Sunday's game versus the Twins with an illness. While his absence was short, he was unable to be a difference-maker Monday as the Athletics got one-hit by Boston. The outfielder is hitting just .242 in July, right in line with his .241/.335/.470 slash line through 81 contests overall.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Brent Rooker: Ready to go Monday
Rooker (illness) is starting in left field and batting cleanup Monday versus the Red Sox, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Rooker will be back in the lineup after missing Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Twins while dealing with an illness, but he appears ready to go for Monday's series opener with Boston. The 28-year-old has gone 8-for-29 with three homers, five RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base over nine games in July.... See More ... See Less
