  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Notches third save

Nardi recorded his third save of the season in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Mets, walking one and striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning. With Tanner Scott (paternity leave) unavailable, Nardi wound up getting the save chance as A.J. Puk, David Robertson and Matt Moore had already combined to throw 3.2 innings of scoreless relief in the nightcap. Nardi has been scored upon only once in his last 15 appearances, posting a 0.61 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB through 14.2 innings since Aug. 19 with two wins and eight holds, but the save was his first since June 18.

  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Injured by comebacker

Nardi was removed from Wednesday's game against the Rays after getting hit in the left hand by a comebacker, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports. Nardi will go in for imaging on his hand, and the Marlins should provide an update on his status in the near future. Until more is known, he should be considered day-to-day.

  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Activated from injured list

Nardi (triceps) was activated Tuesday from the 15-day injured list, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Nardi will return to the Marlins' bullpen Tuesday night against the Phillies after missing three weeks with left triceps inflammation. The 24-year-old southpaw has registered a steady 3.19 ERA and 48:11 K:BB through 36.2 major-league innings this season.

  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Delivers clean rehab outing

Nardi (triceps) struck out two over a perfect inning of relief in his first rehab appearance Tuesday with Triple-A Jacksonville. Nardi has been on the shelf since July 4 with left triceps inflammation and could require another appearance or two in the minors before the Marlins are willing to bring him back from the 15-day injured list. Prior to being deactivated, Nardi compiled a 3.19 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 36.2 innings while picking up two saves and seven holds.

  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Cleared to play catch

Nardi (triceps) was spotted playing catch Friday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Nardi is with the Marlins on their road trip to open their second-half schedule, but he may need to report to a minor-league affiliate for a brief rehab assignment once he advances further along in his throwing program. Miami placed the reliever on the 15-day injured list July 4 with left triceps inflammation.

  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Vultures another win

Nardi (6-1) picked up the win Thursday, striking out one batter without allowing a run in two-thirds of an inning against the Red Sox. Jesus Luzardo gave up a couple one-out singles in the seventh inning of a scoreless game and got the hook, but Nardi needed only seven pitches (five strikes) to escape the jam and become the pitcher of record when the Marlins pushed across a run in the top of the eighth. The 24-year-old southpaw continues to have a breakout campaign -- he's been scored upon only once in 25 appearances since the beginning of May, posting a 0.78 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 33:5 K:BB through 23 innings over that stretch while adding four wins, two saves and seven holds to his ledger. A.J. Puk remains the closer for the Marlins, but Nardi's dominance has moved him into a prominent high-leverage role.

  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Notches second save

Nardi picked up the save in Sunday's 4-2 victory over Washington. He allowed a hit while striking out two over a scoreless inning. With A.J. Puk having pitched the last two days, the Marlins' turned to Nardi in the ninth after using Dylan Floro in the eighth. The 24-year-old Nardi has been tremendous for Miami this season -- he hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 20 appearances (19.1 innings), recording 25 strikeouts in that span. Nardi's ERA is down to 2.27 with a 1.01 WHIP and 39:9 K:BB across 31.2 innings this season. Puk figures to have a firm hold on the closing job, but Nardi could see the occasional save chance as he's worked his way up the Marlins' bullpen hierarchy.

  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Collects fourth hold

Nardi struck out two in 1.1 perfect innings of relief Monday to record his fourth hold of the season in a win over the Royals. The 24-year-old southpaw is quietly having a breakout campaign in the Miami bullpen. Nardi hasn't given up an earned run since the beginning of May, a stretch that features an 18:4 K:BB through 14.2 innings. All four of his holds have come in his last 10 appearances, but his climb toward higher-leverage work has also coincided with an injured list stint for A.J. Puk (elbow). With Tanner Scott and Steven Okert also ahead of Nardi on the depth chart from the left side, it could be tough for him to maintain any fantasy value. That could also make him an intriguing trade chip later in the summer, however.

  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Sent back to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Nardi to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Nardi will cede his spot in the Miami bullpen to Aneurys Zabala, whose contract was selected from Triple-A in advance of Monday's doubleheader with the Rangers. The demotion comes after Nardi yielded 11 runs (10 earned) on 12 hits and four walks in five innings over his most recent four relief appearances.
